By working at Harvard University, you join a vibrant community that advances Harvard's world-changing mission in meaningful ways, inspires innovation and collaboration, and builds skills and expertise. We are dedicated to creating a diverse and welcoming environment where everyone can thrive. Why join Harvard Medical School? Harvard Medical School's mission is to nurture a diverse, inclusive community dedicated to alleviating suffering and improving health and well-being for all through excellence in teaching and learning, discovery and scholarship, and service and leadership. You’ll be at the heart of biomedical discovery, education, and innovation, working alongside world-renowned faculty and a community dedicated to improving human health. This is more than a job - it’s an opportunity to shape the future of medicine. About the Family Van: The Family Van/Mobile Health Map Program of Harvard Medical School is seeking a Data & Systems Integration Specialist to implement, promote and contribute to the growth/strategy of our programs. The Family Van is a mobile clinic founded in 1992 that works with low-income Boston communities to improve the health and well-being of residents and their families. By taking preventive health care directly to medically underserved communities like Roxbury, Dorchester and East Boston, The Family Van improves health outcomes among people whose needs are not fully met by the traditional health care system. This innovative model of health care delivery is grounded in clinical evidence and has demonstrated improvements in important health outcomes. Mobile Health Map (MHM), a program of Harvard Medical School, is a national leader in strengthening mobile healthcare and improving access to care for underserved communities. As the Data & Systems Integration Analyst, you will play a key role in implementing MHM’s technical and analytic work for State Mobile Health Care Expansion with the goal of increasing access to high-quality healthcare for rural residents across the United States, especially for communities facing significant barriers to care. This role will help design and operationalize data infrastructure, implement performance measurement frameworks, and support continuous quality improvement (CQI) for The Family Van and The Mobile Health Map platform. Data & Impact Analytics for The Family Van Perform in-depth analysis of: Visit volume, patterns of utilization across sites. Community-specific needs and outcomes (e.g., comparison of blood pressure readings across sites, variation in client volume and outcomes by day, location, or weather such as extreme heat, cold, or rain). Distinguish new vs. returning clients across regular stops vs. community sites and events, documenting return rates and visit frequency to demonstrate impact. Break down total screenings by type. Quantify and track referrals (e.g., number, type, destination, follow-up where available). Produce regular summary tables, visualizations, and brief reports to inform outreach strategy, scheduling, and resource allocation, drawing on models from other mobile clinics’ impact reports where appropriate. Mobile Health Map Database Strengthening & Visualization Improve MHM’s data quality, coverage, and integration with relevant public datasets. Analyze and visualize data to support an annual impact report and strategic communications for external audiences (e.g., policymakers, funders, partners). Help increase participation by mobile clinics in MHM, including supporting onboarding, data submission, and relationship-building with key partners. Contribute to tools and analytic insights that position mobile clinics, especially rural units, as essential providers in the U.S. health system. Data Infrastructure, Analytics & Systems Integration Design, implement, and maintain data pipelines integrating clinical encounters, screenings, operations (scheduling, locations, utilization), and referral/care coordination data. Support integration with EMRs and the Health Networks (DHIN) to enable secure, high-quality data exchange and continuity of care (non-HIPAA data). Build and document structured datasets and data models to power the Mobile Health Performance Dashboard and related analytic tools. Apply and help enforce data governance standards. Develop and maintain dashboards (e.g., Power BI, Tableau). Conduct quantitative and statistical analyses to identify trends in access, utilization, and outcomes, support evaluation and reporting, and inform deployment strategies and resource allocation. Support geospatial analyses (e.g., SVI, HPSA, transportation access, local health indicators) and map healthcare/community assets to identify service gaps and guide strategic deployment of mobile health services. Support QA/QI protocols for mobile units and community health hubs, including monitoring key performance indicators and preparing analytic materials and visualizations for partner review and learning sessions. Collaborate with staff and local partners to translate data into actionable recommendations that optimize routes, schedules, staffing, workflows, and coordination with referral partners, strengthening impact among underserved populations. Package analytic approaches, tools, and lessons from state initiatives for use in other states and health systems; contribute to reports, slide decks, toolkits, SOPs, and documentation. Support presentations in webinars, convenings, and conferences to share findings and best practices in mobile healthcare and data-driven decision-making. Work closely with MHM leadership, technical teams, state implementers, health systems, community-based organizations, and public agencies. Bring a health equity and lived-experience lens to analysis and recommendations, ensuring data work elevates community voice and advances equitable access to care. Model collaborative, culturally responsive engagement with diverse communities and partners. Other duties as needed Basic Qualifications: 5 + years of experience in Industrial Engineering, Data Science, Public Health, Business Analytics, or a related field. Higher education may count toward experience. Additional Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor's degree, preferably Master’s-level training (completed or in progress) in Business Analytics, Public Health, Data Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Strong quantitative and analytical skills; ability to interpret complex datasets and translate them into actionable insights for non-technical audiences. Proven experience improving processes and systems through data-driven decision-making (e.g., quality management, process optimization, operations research). Excellent communication skills—written, visual, and verbal—with the ability to work effectively across disciplines and organizations. Demonstrated commitment to health equity, access to care, and/or social impact, with the ability to apply an equity lens to analysis and recommendations. Experience with: Healthcare, public health, or human services data. Geospatial analysis (e.g., SVI, HPSA, spatial joins, mapping tools). Building and maintaining data pipelines or ETL workflows (e.g., using Python, SQL, RegEx, or similar tools). Performance measurement, program evaluation, or quality improvement. Experience working with or supporting diverse communities, particularly in low-resource or rural settings. Experience with cross-cultural leadership, especially related to health, data, or social systems transformation.
