D&G is seeking Database Architect to design and govern the data foundation supporting D&G's complex Federal Government logistics modeling and simulation efforts. This role establishes scalable database architectures, logical and physical data models, integration patterns, and technical standards that enable reliable ingestion, storage, retrieval, and analysis of high-volume logistics and simulation data. Working closely with Data Engineers and Operations Research Analysts, the Database Architect ensures data structures are performant, secure, traceable, interoperable, and designed to support repeatable mission analysis and long-term reuse. What You Will Do Design and maintain scalable logical and physical database architectures supporting logistics, platform, performance, and simulation data. Develop schemas, data models, relationships, and standards that enable interoperability, scalability, and analytical use. Evaluate and optimize database structures, indexing, partitioning, queries, and storage strategies for performance, availability, recoverability, and growth. Define database interfaces and integration patterns supporting ETL pipelines, modeling and simulation tools, analytics, and reporting. Partner with Data Engineers, Operations Research Analysts, and SMEs to translate analytical and operational requirements into simulation-ready data structures. Establish and maintain standards for data quality, lineage, metadata, access controls, security, retention, backup, recovery, and change management. Document database architectures, schemas, interfaces, configurations, dependencies, and design decisions for the Technical Data Package (TDP). What We Are Looking For Required Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related STEM field. 8+ years of experience in database architecture, data modeling, database engineering, or enterprise data management. Advanced proficiency in SQL and strong experience designing and optimizing relational database structures. Demonstrated experience with logical and physical data modeling, schema design, indexing, query optimization, and database performance tuning. Experience defining database integration, governance, security, backup/recovery, and technical documentation standards. Preferred Experience architecting databases for modeling and simulation, logistics, operations research, or other high-volume analytical workloads. Experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or cloud-native managed database services. Experience with Federal Government technical environments, data standards, security requirements, or government-facing engineering documentation. Experience with data lineage, metadata management, data-quality frameworks, or architecture documentation used in Technical Data Packages. Location Remote Clearance and Eligibility Must be a U.S. citizen and able to attain a security clearance.
