About the role...
To support and deputise for the MLRO in Denmark, Germany and Sweden, ensuring continuous compliance with applicable EU and national AML/CFT requirements, as well as gambling-specific supervisory expectations in jurisdictions characterised by rules-driven controls and enforcement-led supervision.
The Deputy MLRO must be capable of formally assuming MLRO duties during absence, including SAR decisioning and regulator engagement.
What you will be doing...
- Deputise for the MLRO with full authority when required.
- Review and decide on high-risk customers, transactions, and EDD outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with applicable jurisdiction-specific AML/CFT and regulatory requirements, including: Denmark: AML Act and applicable DGA regulatory requirements. Germany: GwG and applicable GGL regulatory requirements. Sweden: AML Act and applicable SGA regulatory requirements.
- Oversee PEP, sanctions and adverse media assessments.
- Respond to regulatory and law-enforcement information requests.
- Support the MLRO during audits, inspections and other regulatory interactions.
- Support the MLRO and AML Governance Manager in maintaining jurisdiction-specific AML risk assessments and ensuring identified risks are reflected in policies, procedures and operational controls.
- Identify and escalate AML control deficiencies and support timely remediation of audit, assurance and regulatory findings.
- Deliver AML training and support the development of AML officers.
- Support Board and senior management AML reporting.
Who we are looking for...
- Prior deputy MLRO or senior AML experience in highly prescriptive EU jurisdictions, with demonstrable experience exercising independent AML judgement and decision-making
- Experience reviewing complex high-risk customer and EDD cases and making or materially supporting SAR/STR decisions.
- Strong understanding of risk-based AML frameworks and the ability to translate regulatory requirements into effective operational controls and procedures.
- Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in Danish, German, or Swedish would be considered an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail, procedural discipline and documentation standards.
- Ability to exercise sound judgement and clearly document and defend decisions under regulatory challenge.
- Experience in online gambling strongly preferred.
