Apply Job Type Full-time Description Reporting to the Design Manager, US Academic & Professional Division, the Design Assistant provides support for the design team primarily through the preparation of backlist cover files such as reprints and POD (print-on-demand) covers, updating archived files with textual or branding corrections, adjusting file dimensions, and supplying final files for print and electronic distribution. The Design Assistant is expected to manage the cover workflow through all stages of production, from initial briefing to final files, in line with company-wide schedules, budgets, and quality standards. This position requires technical proficiency with design and layout software and a general understanding of the print production process. Design Assistants must be extremely detail-oriented and possess the ability to organize and manage a large workload while independently liaising with editorial and production staff. Requirements Qualifications: · Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite on a Mac platform, including a comprehensive understanding of Adobe InDesign · A basic understanding of print production · Attention to detail · Excellent organizational and time-management skills · The ability to process a large volume of work quickly and accurately · Superior communication skills and the confidence to independently collaborate with internal stakeholders Key responsibilities: · Pull archived cover and jacket files and prepare updated files for reprint or POD, inputting any necessary textual and branding corrections and adjusting specs according to supplied templates · Check quality of cover images · Export final print-ready files for distribution to the printer · Prepare and upload print files and pre-publication thumbnails to asset management systems · Update schedules and project status within internal project management systems · Attend biweekly Design team meetings and individual 1:1 meetings with the Design Manager This is not meant to be an exhaustive list of duties.
