About the Role The Design Director plays a central role in shaping the quality, direction, and impact of Alice’s work. This is a hands-on leadership role for a designer who can operate across brand and digital—equally comfortable defining vision, guiding teams, and executing at a high level of craft. You’ll lead our design team across complex client engagements, translating strategy into compelling creative outcomes. You bring clarity to ambiguity, elevate the work through strong creative judgment, and ensure that everything we produce is excellent, cohesive, and built to perform. This role requires both perspective and pragmatism: the ability to push ideas forward while aligning teams, managing constraints, and delivering exceptional work consistently. In this role, you will: Lead the design direction across projects, ensuring work is conceptually strong, visually compelling, and aligned with client goals. Translate strategy into design systems, product experiences, and brand expressions—collaborating closely with strategy, technology, and project management teams to align vision with execution. Operate hands-on in the work—concepting, designing, and refining outputs alongside the team when needed. Guide and mentor designers, providing clear feedback, fostering growth, and maintaining a high bar for craft and thinking. Build and present compelling narratives for client deliverables, workshops, and new business opportunities. Lead client relationships from a creative perspective, and identify opportunities to expand the scope and impact of engagements through strong creative leadership. Manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously, balancing priorities, timelines, and resources effectively. Contribute to Alice’s evolving design standards, processes, and point of view. Ideally, you’ll have: 7+ years of experience in design, with a strong portfolio spanning brand, digital, or product Experience leading projects and managing designers Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with confidence presenting to and working with senior client stakeholders Strong creative judgment and a clear point of view, with the ability to balance creativity, systems thinking, and business objectives The ability to move between strategy, concept, and executio n comfortably Experience working closely with cross-functional teams Strong organization and the ability to handle multiple projects at once Deep proficiency in core design tools (Figma and Adobe Creative Suite), and curiosity about emerging tools and workflows Interest in working in a small, collaborative team where everyone contributes—we punch above our weight by staying curious, always improving, and maximizing our impact We offer: Great benefits, including: Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401k and company match FSA Commuter benefits Unlimited PTO Hybrid work: ability to commute to office in LA, otherwise remote Note: Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
