Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Design Project Manager to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of multidisciplinary design projects for mission-critical data centers across North America. This role is responsible for managing the full design lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with client expectations and industry standards. The position is primarily remote within Canada, with occasional travel for client meetings, design workshops, and project site visits. Key Responsibilities Manage multiple data center design projects from proposal through construction documentation and project closeout Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, including electrical, mechanical, structural, and BIM/VDC professionals Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, resource plans, and deliverables Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle Lead project kickoff meetings, design reviews, coordination meetings, and client presentations Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies to keep projects on track Ensure design quality, consistency, and compliance with applicable Canadian and U.S. codes, client standards, and industry best practices Coordinate with technical discipline leads to resolve design challenges and facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration Support contract administration, scope management, change orders, and project reporting Mentor junior project staff and promote continuous improvement in project delivery processes Participate in business development activities, including proposal preparation, project planning, and client relationship management as needed Travel occasionally to client offices, project sites, and team meetings across Canada and the United States Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline 7+ years of experience managing multidisciplinary engineering or design projects, preferably involving mission-critical facilities or data centers Proven experience leading complex projects through all phases of design and engineering Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, including electrical power systems, mechanical cooling systems, and critical facility design principles Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams in a consulting or EPC environment Proficiency with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or similar scheduling software Familiarity with Revit, Revizto, Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or comparable design coordination platforms is considered an asset Knowledge of Canadian building codes, applicable provincial regulations, and familiarity with U.S. industry standards Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage client relationships effectively PMP certification or eligibility is considered an asset Ability to work independently in a remote environment while managing multiple concurrent projects Equal Opportunity Employment Salas O’Brien is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
