Desktop Liability Adjuster Job Location: UK-wide / Hybrid Job Type: Permanent Remuneration: Competitive salary, taking into account skills, experience and qualifications Join Sedgwick and make a meaningful impact We have a fantastic opportunity for a Desktop Liability Adjuster / Claims Handler specialising in Disease to join our team. We are looking for dedicated professionals with experience in occupational disease claims to join our growing team. You will manage a caseload of disease claims, including NIHL, HAVS, respiratory and other long-tail exposure claims, while benefiting from flexible working arrangements and hybrid working options. This technical role involves investigating policy and legal liability, settling claims on behalf of our insurer and corporate clients, and handling occupational disease claims independently and under referral where appropriate. You will investigate allegations against policyholders, assess causation and liability in disease cases, collate and review medical and employment evidence, identify potential fraud risks, and maintain proactive communication with all parties involved. You will also manage litigation where appropriate and ensure all systems, documentation and correspondence are maintained accurately and efficiently. With one of the largest teams of liability experts in the world, Sedgwick supports and resolves property, general, motor, product and professional liability claims, helping our clients protect their brands and reputations. The skills you'll have when you apply Technical expertise in occupational disease claims, including experience handling Mesothelioma matters alongside NIHL, HAVS , respiratory disease and other long-tail exposures such as asbestosis, pleural thickening, COPD and occupational noise-related conditions, as well as short-tail conditions including dermatitis and RSI. Strong ability to analyse causation and evaluate medical evidence across a broad range of occupational disease claims. Good knowledge of relevant legislation , case law and regulatory frameworks, including an understanding of Scottish and Northern Irish legal jurisdictions. Excellent investigative skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret policy wordings and apply core insurance principles effectively. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with a professional, empathetic approach when dealing with sensitive claimant matters. A collaborative and proactive mindset , with a commitment to delivering excellent service to clients, colleagues and external partners.
