Full-Time | Hybrid as determined by the organization Overview Jones Advisors HR Consulting is actively searching for a Development Associate on behalf of our client, Urban Ministries. This is a full-time, hybrid role in Raleigh, NC. Urban Ministries of Wake County (UMWC) seeks a highly organized, creative, and mission-driven Development Associate to support the organization's fundraising, donor engagement, marketing, and communications efforts. This position is intentionally designed to support both Development and Marketing/Communications. It will play an important role in expanding UMWC's visibility, strengthening relationships with donors and community partners, supporting fundraising initiatives, and telling the story of the people and communities we serve. The ideal candidate is a strong writer and communicator who is equally comfortable working with donor data, coordinating fundraising activities, creating compelling content, managing projects, and helping execute events and campaigns. This is a highly collaborative, hands-on position that requires strong attention to detail, initiative, creativity, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. The Development Associate will work closely with the Development Director, Executive Director, program staff, Board members, volunteers, donors, community partners, and vendors. What You'll Be Doing Donor & Development Support Assist with donor cultivation, stewardship, solicitation, and acknowledgment activities. Maintain accurate and timely donor records in UMWC's CRM, including gifts, pledges, contact information, notes, and donor interactions. Events & Fundraising Campaigns Support planning and execution of fundraising events and other UMWC fundraising initiatives. Assist with annual giving, special campaigns, peer-to-peer fundraising, and other development initiatives. Grants & Institutional Giving Support Assist with grant preparation, submission, reporting, and tracking. Assist with research and identification of potential foundation and corporate funding opportunities. Development Operations Help ensure timely and accurate entry of gifts and donor information into the CRM. Assist with maintaining development calendars, task lists, and departmental records. Support Board members and volunteers with development-related materials as needed. Assist with the creation and maintenance of development policies, procedures, and workflows. Marketing & Communications Content Creation Draft newsletters, donor communications, website content, social media posts, email communications, press releases, event materials, and other organizational communications. Edit and proofread organizational communications for accuracy, consistency, grammar, and tone. Social Media & Digital Communications Manage and maintain UMWC's social media presence in coordination with the Development Director. Develop and maintain a social media content calendar. Website & Digital Presence Assist with maintaining and updating the UMWC website. Ensure that website content reflects current programs, leadership, events, opportunities, and organizational priorities. Marketing Materials & Brand Management Create and coordinate flyers, brochures, invitations, presentations, event materials, donor leave-behinds, signage, and other marketing collateral. Ensure communications consistently reflect UMWC's brand, voice, mission, and visual identity. Public Relations & Community Awareness Assist with development and distribution of press releases and media communications. Help identify opportunities to increase awareness of UMWC's programs, events, and impact. What We're Looking For Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, nonprofit management, public relations, business, or a related field or equivalent professional experience. 2–4 years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and project-management skills. Exceptional attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities. Experience creating written content for multiple audiences and platforms. Experience with social media platforms and digital communications. Commitment to the mission of Urban Ministries of Wake County and the people we serve. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a nonprofit organization. Experience with a donor CRM; experience with Bloomerang is a plus. Experience with email marketing platforms. Experience with Canva or similar graphic-design tools. Experience supporting fundraising events. Familiarity with Wake County's nonprofit and philanthropic community. Physical Requirements Work is performed primarily in a non-profit office environment. The position regularly requires standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, and moving. The position must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 30 pounds. Work Environment The Development Associate works primarily in a professional office environment, with regular interaction with staff, Board members, volunteers, donors, community partners, vendors, and members of the public. The position also participates in fundraising events, community activities, donor meetings, and other activities that may take place outside of the office. The position requires professionalism, strong communication, collaboration, creativity, adaptability, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. The Development Associate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced nonprofit environment, balancing administrative responsibilities with donor engagement, fundraising, marketing, communications, and event support. The position requires a commitment to the mission of Urban Ministries of Wake County and the ability to represent the organization positively and professionally with a wide range of stakeholders.
