Position Summary The Development Coordinator plays a key role in advancing NCC's conservation mission by supporting senior fundraising leadership and helping cultivate, steward, and grow relationships with major, principal, and transformational donors. Working closely with senior fundraisers, the position coordinates donor engagement strategies, proposals, briefings, reports, and relationship management activities that contribute to fundraising success. The role also provides administrative support for NCC's Fundraising Committee and American Friends of Canadian Nature (AFCN). By helping fundraising teams stay organized, informed, and well-supported, the Coordinator enables meaningful donor engagement and the successful execution of fundraising strategies. Reporting to the Director, Conservation Philanthropy, the role collaborates with stakeholders across the organization to support donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities, allowing senior fundraisers and volunteer leaders to focus on building relationships and securing philanthropic support for conservation. Key Responsibilities Major, Principal and Transformational Gift Fundraising: Support three Directors, the VP Marketing & Development, and the President’s Office (under the leadership of the Director, Conservation Philanthropy) in advancing high-value donor relationships and fundraising activities: Prepare donor meeting briefs, coordinating input from multiple teams across the organization. Coordinate prospect research with the Prospect Strategy team to support donor engagement. Coordinate the development of donor proposals and impact reports with teams across the organization. Maintain donor relationship plans and coordinate stakeholders to ensure follow-up actions are completed on schedule. Maintain donor records and relationship information in the Raiser’s Edge CRM system. Coordinate internal meetings related to donor strategy, including preparing agendas, recording minutes, and tracking action items. Other related duties as assigned. NCC Fundraising Committee support Develop and maintain the annual workplan and quarterly meeting workback schedules. Prepare reports, briefing notes, pre-read packages, and meeting materials for review. Coordinate meeting logistics, RSVPs, guest presenters, and special guest participation. Record minutes, discussion points, decisions, and action items. Coordinate minute approval and track post-meeting deliverables to completion. American Friends of Canadian Nature (AFCN): Support the Executive Director in the administration and operations of AFCN, ensuring effective governance, compliance, financial management, and donor stewardship. Coordinate board governance activities, including meetings, onboarding, and communications. Support financial and operational administration, including budgeting, reporting, records management, systems, and organizational processes. Manage donation, grant, and donor administration, including gift processing, reporting, and stewardship activities. Support regulatory compliance and special projects that strengthen AFCN operations and fundraising effectiveness. Position Requirements Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Communications, Business, Nonprofit Management, Fundraising, Conservation Biology, Environment Science or related) or an equivalent combination of education and experience). At least 3 years of relevant experience in fundraising support, nonprofit administration, or project coordination. Proficiency with CRM systems (experience with Raiser’s Edge or similar preferred). Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize and multi-task. Team player with a flexible and helpful attitude and outlook. Experience managing calendars, meetings, and stakeholder coordination. Basic understanding of fundraising processes and donor stewardship. Experience supporting major gift fundraising teams. Ability to draft donor communications and reports. Familiarity with nonprofit governance and board support. Experience with project management techniques (e.g., project charters, workback schedules) and document repositories (e.g., SharePoint). Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with Adobe Acrobat.
