Community Music Center of Boston seeks a Development and Events Coordinator to join its high-performing advancement team at an exciting juncture in the organization's trajectory. Now in the final year of the successful $20 million Valuing All Voices capital campaign, CMCB will be building on our campaign's momentum as we open our flagship new facility in Roxbury's Nubian Square in early 2027 ( read more about our expansion HERE ) . Reporting directly to the Chief Advancement Officer and joining a team of four full-time staff and several part-time staff, this position is responsible for helping plan and produce a variety of public events that celebrate CMCB's mission, vision, and student body. Events include CMCB's Annual Benefit fundraiser in November/December, our Community Conversation and John Kleshinski Concert Series, a wide variety of student performances and recitals, and various private events. In all events, this role is a key player in bringing to life many festive occasions, fostering engagement with CMCB's work among donors, participants, elected officials, civic leaders, and more. The Development and Events Coordinator also supports donor services and development operations , effectively stitching together ongoing fundraising efforts and public events-a primary onramp for interested supporters. This position is an excellent opportunity for an early career professional with experience in event planning/production, nonprofit fundraising, community development, or other related arts and business skills . An ideal candidate will be able to seamlessly align CMCB's many activities and mission-driven offerings with the interests and engagement of donors and civic leaders . Like all roles at CMCB, there is investment in professional development training and mentorship from senior staff, as well as opportunities to supervise participants in the CMCB youth employment program. Status : Regular full-time (40 hours/week), salaried, exempt Start Date : September 2026 Schedule: Hybrid, Monday - Friday, occasional weekend and evening hours with advance notice Responsibilities Play a key role in event planning; day-of logistics; coordination with external consultants, vendors, and event planners; and recording attendance and engagement Be knowledgeable about CMCB's donors, community stakeholders, and neighborhood context, in order to support strategic recommendations and to advise on external opportunities and community-based events Serve as a primary contact for volunteers during special events in all related logistics and training Provide excellent hospitality and customer service to funders, donors, volunteers, and prospects, playing a central role in CMCB's growing volunteer program Take part in effective database entry, gift processing and acknowledgement, and administration on donors, prospects, and community leaders Provide support for monthly financial reporting and reconciliation Ensure timely availability of supplies on hand in addition to managing and inventorying CMCB's off-site storage unit Qualifications Essential Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills on a micro and macro level, a systems-oriented mindset, and a high level of attention to detail that allows for productive work without jeopardizing quality Prior event-planning experience, ideally in a donor relations or fundraising context (music or concert production preferred) Ability to maintain a professional and personable demeanor with a wide range of stakeholders, demonstrating a mix of confidence and humility Strong oral and written communication skills Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and independently, particularly among shifting priorities Adept at working and thriving in a culturally diverse environment with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite Ability to work in a hybrid remote / in person team-based, collaborative work environment Must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S as CMCB is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time Preferred Previous experience with a donor database software (Raiser's Edge, Bloomerang, etc) Previous experience in graphic design softwares like Canva or Adobe Suite Previous supervisory experience and/or experience in youth development Fundraising experience in an arts education or community development setting Oral or written fluency in a second language commonly spoken by families in CMCB's student body (Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, Haitian, Vietnamese, etc) Physical Demands The duties of this position are performed indoors in a business/office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate during active programming hours and minimal otherwise. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to remain in a stationary position 50-75% of the time. They will need to constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery. At events, they will need to constantly move around the event space to communicate with vendors and attendees, assess event logistics, and work in an environment with a moderate noise level that can become high upon occasion. The person in this position frequently communicates verbally with internal and external constituents and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
