Mind Computing is seeking a full-time, 100% remote DevOps Engineer to support a project with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to design, implement, and manage secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS). The ideal candidate will have strong experience with AWS, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, CI/CD, containerization, and cloud security, with the ability to collaborate closely with development teams to support reliable and efficient application deployments. The candidate must reside within the continental US. Responsibilities: Design, deploy, and manage scalable AWS infrastructure using services such as EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, VPC, ELB/ALB, and EKS. Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and deployment workflows using Terraform and AWS CloudFormation. Implement cloud security best practices, including IAM, encryption, network segmentation, logging, and compliance controls. Monitor cloud infrastructure for performance, availability, security, and cost, and troubleshoot issues proactively. Develop and support CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and other DevOps tools. Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes/EKS. Support high availability, disaster recovery, and resilient cloud architectures. Collaborate with development and operations teams to translate application requirements into secure and efficient AWS solutions. Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives and ensure the success of the project. Qualifications: Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 8+ years of relevant experience as a DevOps Engineer. Strong hands-on experience with AWS compute, storage, networking, databases, and security services. Production experience with Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation. Proficiency in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and system administration. Strong understanding of AWS security, networking, and the shared responsibility model. Experience with subnetting, routing, load balancing, firewall rules, and VPN connectivity. Experience with CI/CD principles, automation, and deployment tools. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across AWS and CI/CD environments. Strong communication and collaboration skills within Agile development environments. Additional Qualifications: Ability to obtain government clearance. Experience with the VA or other Government agencies. Experience managing containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes/EKS. Familiarity with modern CI/CD tools and practices, including GitHub Actions. One or more of the following certifications: AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional or AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty or AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate/Professional.
