You will move beyond theory to help implement secure software solutions within Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS)—the technology driving the future of electricity. Job Description What you’ll do: Secure the Grid: Integrate cyber security into CI/CD pipelines and software lifecycles. Build & Deploy: Support the configuration and implementation of utility-grade software. Collaborate: Work alongside expert engineers to identify risks and automate operational efficiency. Bridge the Gap: Gain hands-on exposure to how software platforms interact with Operational Technology (OT) and IT environments. What we’re looking for: Availability: Ability to commit for a minimum of 6 months , working either 3 days per week during the semester or 5 days per week during semester breaks. Academic Excellence: Currently enrolled in Computer Science, Engineering, or IT, with a minimum 75% WAM . Those currently enrolled in a double degree in these disciplines will also be considered. Experience: Previous cyber security vacation work or internship experience within a utility, electricity, energy, or critical-infrastructure organisation would be advantageous. Technical Curiosity: Strong interest in DevSecOps, DERMS, and grid-management technology is essential. Bonus points: Experience with Git, CI/CD, Python/Bash, Docker/Kubernetes, or Cloud platforms. Knowledge of OT/ICS security or SCADA systems.
