This position is a 3-year fixed term appointment. Stanford University Libraries is seeking a full-time Digital Community & Social Media Specialist 2 to join the Communications team. About the Position: The Digital Community & Social Media Specialist 2 will extend the reach of the Libraries’ communications to an online community by focusing on digital content creation and social media collaboration to amplify coverage (e.g., media stories, events, announcements) of the Libraries. In addition, the role will promote the Libraries’ brand to online communities, develop and implement digital community strategies in collaboration with Libraries’ leadership and staff, and partner with University Communications on communications campaigns/initiatives that align with both the Libraries and university’s priorities. The role needs to be able to learn the many roles and relationships, as well as features and functions of the Libraries and communicate them accurately and vividly as part of the position’s duties. The position will remain at the forefront of current industry standards, trends and technology by attending webinars, conferences, and other learning events. Job Purpose: Under minimal supervision, build, cultivate, advocate for, respond to, monitor, and grow a digital community on behalf of, and while representing, a department. Other Relevant Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Collaborate with or within University Communications and school/unit/functional areas to ensure consistent and complementary strategic plans with overall university outreach and communications. Contribute to devising and implementing creative and compelling ways to communicate the innovations, employee experience, academic excellence, and essential nature of the university. Maintain knowledge by attending webinars, conferences, networking etc. to remain at the forefront of current industry standards, trends and technology. Core Duties : Produce and curate digital content to engage users, increase user base, and grow channels. Optimize content delivery strategies; build content topics, tailor content to outlet platform, target specific audiences, and make editorial decisions. Strategize to build and grow digital community through social media channels, paid advertising campaigns, blogs, and the web. Manage social listening efforts based on comments and online conversations. Respond to reputation risks by taking appropriate action and recommend solutions to minimize harm. Compile data, analyze and report on social media use. Analyze how content is performing and create reports with recommendations to management. Build support for social initiatives among internal stakeholders by acting as internal advocate for digital community efforts, building support and driving digital best practices. Contribute to overall development and refinement of digital community strategy, and innovative social initiatives by proposing and implementing recommendations. Provide customer service to constituents across digital channels; Represent organization to constituents, campus, media May supervise interns, entry-level staff, and volunteers. Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and minimum 1 year of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to build lasting relationships and strong communities; customer focus. Knowledge of the web, technology, social platforms, current and future trends. Highly organized and creative. Ability to work independently to meet expected deadlines and schedules. Demonstrated team player.
