Is this job info correct?

When you join Verizon You want more out of a career. A place to share your ideas freely — even if they’re daring or different. Where the true you can learn, grow, and thrive. At Verizon, we power and empower how people live, work and play by connecting them to what brings them joy. We do what we love — driving innovation, creativity, and impact in the world. Our V Team is a community of people who anticipate, lead, and believe that listening is where learning begins. In crisis and in celebration, we come together — lifting our communities and building trust in how we show up, everywhere & always. Want in? Join the #VTeamLife. What you’ll be doing... The Director of the Global Event Management Center (GEMC) is a key operational leadership role at Verizon, leading a nationally scoped center responsible for global event monitoring, threat assessment, incident management, labor business continuity, and disaster response operations. This leader builds and develops the team that owns the full disaster lifecycle — Preparedness, Response & Recovery, and Mitigation — across a broader cross-functional network spanning ISAC, the Verizon Response Team (VRT), MERIT, Frontline, and Network EOC Liaisons. With accountability over Verizon’s Crisis Management Plans and GEMC’s operational and strategic roadmap, this Director partners with SR&BC senior leadership, Legal, HR, Corporate Communications, and the Verizon Business Group to protect the business, its employees, and its network infrastructure across all threat levels — from minor, localized incidents to strategic-level events such as pandemics, labor stoppages, and natural disasters. Build, coach, and develop a high-performing, resilient leadership team — cultivating a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the GEMC organization. Hold formal activation authority over Crisis Management Plans (CMPs) — directing and coordinating incident management and response efforts across all domestic and international events. Lead and develop the GEMC leadership team and their respective sub-teams, including ISAC/Incident Management, Response Team & MERIT, Program & Project Management, and Business Continuity Planning. Own the three-stage SR&BC disaster response framework — Preparedness, Response & Recovery, and Mitigation — maintaining operational readiness across SR&BC mobile assets and national deployment infrastructure. Drive the Labor Business Continuity (LBC) program, including CBA contract portfolio management across Verizon. Oversee the full Frontier/GEMC integration workstream, including organizational structure, ISAC/IM process alignment, VENS migration (AlertMedia), and HRIS system integration. Define and own the GEMC performance management framework — establishing and maintaining operational scorecards across key domains (MTI, CMT activation metrics, asset readiness, MERIT performance) and using data to drive team accountability, prioritization, and executive-level reporting. Lead the ongoing modernization of GEMC reporting infrastructure, including automation and AI in the unified GEMC reporting ecosystem. Own GEMC’s operating and capital budget — overseeing OpEx and CapEx planning, asset lifecycle strategy, vendor procurement governance, and storage/inventory to ensure fiscal discipline across a multi-team, multi-program operational footprint. Maintain activation-ready oversight of the Verizon Emergency Notification System (VENS), supporting employees across the Verizon footprint. Represent GEMC at high-profile planned event activations, coordinating bi-daily HON/CMT calls, situation reports, and ESC-level briefings as needed. Champion change management and organizational alignment across a matrixed, cross-functional environment, building trusted relationships that extend GEMC’s influence well beyond its direct reporting lines. This is a hybrid role with a defined work location that includes both remote work and assigned office days as set by the manager. What we’re looking for... You’re a decisive, composed leader who is at your best when the stakes are highest. You build trust quickly across every level of the organization — from the field to the executive suite — and you know how to translate complex, fast-moving situations into clear direction, calm communication, and confident execution. You lead with accountability, not just authority: you develop your people, hold your team to a high standard, and create a culture where others want to do their best work under pressure. You’re equally comfortable setting a multi-year strategic roadmap and jumping on a call at 2 a.m. to lead a live response. You’ll need to have: Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience. Ten or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training. Experience leading organizational response to large-scale, high-visibility events, including multi-stage planning, activation, and after-action review. Experience with executive presence and communication skills, with experience briefing senior leadership audiences and influencing decision-making during active incidents or program reviews. Experience managing complex, concurrent workstreams under time-sensitive conditions Experience operating across a national footprint, with global event coordination across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC. On-call availability required with activation authority during declared GEMC incidents. Even better if you have one or more of the following: An MBA or an advanced degree in Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field. Experience within telecommunications, critical infrastructure, or similar operations — particularly within a network operations or resilience function. Familiarity with Business Continuity frameworks (BCP), the Incident Command System (ICS), and enterprise resilience/reporting platforms such as Fusion Risk Management. Experience supporting or leading Labor Business Continuity planning in a union-represented workforce environment. A background in emergency notification systems (VENS/OnSolve/AlertMedia), large-scale asset management, or operational data reporting automation. Prior experience managing field operations. A demonstrated commitment to talent development, mentorship, and succession planning within a fast-paced operational organization. A CEM, CBCP, or equivalent professional certification. If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above. Where you’ll be working In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager. Employees are responsible for maintaining compliance with hybrid work policies. Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 Equal Employment Opportunity Verizon is an equal opportunity employer. We evaluate qualified applicants without regard to veteran status, disability or other legally protected characteristics. Benefits and Compensation Our benefits are designed to help you move forward in your career, and in areas of your life outside of Verizon. From health and wellness benefit options including: medical, dental, vision, short and long term disability, basic life insurance, supplemental life insurance, AD&D insurance, identity theft protection, pet insurance and group home & auto insurance. We also offer a matched 401(k) savings plan, up to 8 company paid holidays per year and up to 6 personal days per year, paid parental leave, adoption assistance and tuition assistance, plus other incentives, we’ve got you covered with our award-winning total rewards package. Depending on the role, employees have the opportunity to receive compensation in the form of premium pay such as overtime, shift differential, holiday pay, allowances, etc. Newly hired employees receive up to 15 days of vacation per year, which grows with additional service. For part-timers, your coverage will vary as you may be eligible for some of these benefits depending on your individual circumstances. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours. The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $121,500.00 - $233,000.00.
