Working closely with the Direct Bill Operations Senior Manager, Regional Direct Bill Accountants, agency accounting teams, and insurance carriers, you will lead a team responsible for commission posting, reconciliation, and reporting activities. Your leadership will help ensure cash received is accurately reconciled each month, minimizing accruals, supporting timely producer compensation, and providing meaningful financial reporting across the organization. How You'll Make an Impact Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Direct Bill Accountants, providing coaching, training, and day-to-day support to ensure high performance and professional growth. Serve as the primary escalation point for complex reconciliation issues, carrier challenges, and unresolved direct bill exceptions. Review and approve monthly reconciliations prepared by direct bill accountants, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with established accounting guidelines. Monitor team productivity, quality, and service levels, identifying opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies. Partner with the Direct Bill Operations Senior Manager to manage workloads, staffing priorities, and the consistent application of direct bill policies and procedures. Support agency onboarding activities, banking transitions, carrier consolidations, and other operational initiatives that impact direct bill processing. Guide team members in the use of commission posting platforms, agency management systems, and reconciliation tools to ensure accurate revenue recognition. Collaborate with carriers, client service teams, and agency personnel to resolve escalated issues quickly and effectively. Assist in the development of training programs, process documentation, and best practices that support a scalable direct bill operation. Who You Are A people-focused leader who enjoys developing talent and helping team members succeed. A collaborative partner who builds strong relationships across accounting, operations, carrier partners, and agency teams. A detail-oriented professional who values accuracy and accountability in financial processes. A proactive problem solver who can identify root causes and implement effective solutions. An organized multitasker who can balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. A strong communicator who can explain complex financial and operational concepts clearly and confidently. A technology-minded professional who embraces systems, process improvements, and data-driven decision-making. What You Bring Day One: Strong knowledge of the insurance brokerage industry, direct bill processes, and industry regulations. Experience with insurance agency management systems, preferably EPIC and BenefitPoint. Proficiency with accounting software, financial management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Advanced Excel skills, including data filtering, pivot tables, formulas, and large-volume data analysis. Proven experience leading, coaching, mentoring, or supervising a team. Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to analyze financial data and generate meaningful reports. High aptitude for technology, software adoption, and system utilization. Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards when handling sensitive information. Valuable Additions: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Three to five years of experience in direct billing, accounts receivable management, or a related role within the insurance brokerage industry. Prior supervisory or team lead experience within an accounting, finance, or insurance operations environment. Experience with Ascend, Comulate, or similar commission processing platforms. Experience supporting agency onboarding, carrier consolidations, process standardization, or operational transformation initiatives.
