Key activities involve maintaining and growing the existing compliance program, collaborating with operational leaders, overseeing compliance committees, and presenting at the applicable boards. This position manages the compliance program for Medicaid. A knowledge and background working with managed care, provider relations, Quality measures, Medicare, and/or AHCCCS (the Arizona Medicaid agency) would all be helpful. POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and enforcing aspects of Banner Health's Corporate Compliance Program. The role promotes compliance with federal, state, and local regulations including Medicare, Medicaid, and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements. The position serves as a strategic leader and subject matter expert, promoting high ethical standards consistent with the organization's values and legal requirements. CORE FUNCTIONS 1. Develops, implements, maintains, and enforces complex and/or multiple aspects of Banner Health’s Corporate Compliance Program consistent with industry standards and a risk-based approach to conduct an effective compliance program consistent with the organization's compliance philosophy and strategies. 2. Develops, implements, and coordinates with internal stakeholders, including others in Compliance, program-specific workplans reflecting current external and internal compliance risks within assigned area of responsibility. 3. Designs and conducts routine and ad hoc auditing and monitoring activities that address Banner’s identified risks, failures, or government enforcement priorities. 4. Creates and monitors ethical and compliance standards expected of employees and takes corrective action to address failures. Monitors program effectiveness and implements improvements to enhance compliance outcomes. 5.Identifies need to create and execute training and education programs that promote understanding of and behavior consistent with the organization's compliance culture and expectations. Builds and executes a comprehensive program-specific training strategy to ensure all stakeholders understand requirements and responsibilities. 6.Provides regular reports to leadership and compliance committees on compliance-program activities and metrics, reporting program performance, risk trends, and strategic insights to compliance committees and executive leadership. Presents program updates to board committees as needed. 7. Investigates and responds to compliance concerns, questions, and complaints, ensuring appropriate, documented, and timely resolution. Oversees complex investigations with enterprise-wide implications, coordinating with legal counsel and external parties as needed. Documents compliance activities consistent with legal requirements and organizational expectations. 8. Maintains awareness of applicable laws, regulations, sub-regulatory guidance, and enforcement actions through personal initiative, seminars, training programs, and peer contact. 9.Directs, supervises, and evaluates the work of staff, while holding them accountable and developing them to promote continued professional growth. Manages performance, workload distribution, career development, and succession planning. Establishes team goals aligned with program objectives and organizational priorities. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in healthcare or other relevant field. Seven years of experience in healthcare compliance or operations, or other relevant field, including a minimum of three years management level experience within a health care system setting or large multi-operational, complex corporate environment. Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to healthcare, regulatory compliance, Medicare/Medicaid, and HIPAA. Strong oral and written communication skills Ability to interact effectively with executives, management teams, physicians, and regulatory agencies. Excellent problem-solving and planning skills and proficiency with computers and relevant applications. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Master's degree in relevant field. Healthcare compliance certification. Previous healthcare compliance experience. Experience with compliance program activities related to effective compliance program elements. Additional related education and/or experience preferred. Estimated Pay Range: $57.38 - $95.64 / hour Banner Health is committed to pay equity and transparency. The posted compensation range is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay Banner Health in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. This range is based on possible base salaries and does not include the value of our total rewards package. Actual pay determined at offer will be based on years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location, along with a review of current employees in similar roles to ensure pay equity is achieved and maintained.
