With a deep commitment to trust, integrity and collaboration, Flyttr has become the trusted partner of governments, industries, philanthropies and communities seeking to make bold advancements on the biggest pest threats of our time. We work with urgency because lives and livelihoods depend on it. Successful candidates will find Flyttr to be an exhilarating place to do their best work and will find that every person at Flyttr plays a critical role in a dynamic, exciting, team-oriented culture. Purpose of the Job With over 20 years in sustainable pest management and operations around the globe, Flyttr is establishing a dedicated program to combat the resurgence of New World Screwworm (NWS) across the United States and the Americas. As Director, you will lead the NWS Program as a large-scale scientific and operational undertaking with clear national and international impact potential, spanning the US and the wider Americas region, the operations that underpin it, and the San Antonio facilities (multiple). As Director, you will manage a dedicated team focused on accelerated program delivery, shaping the program's path from scientific early work to regional deployment and scale, and keeping delivery, supply chain, and stakeholder engagement tightly aligned with strategic vision. The role demands working command of the underlying science, allowing you to make sound program-level judgment calls, direct technical work with credibility, and clearly represent the program to the Executive team, government stakeholders, and industry partners. This is a hybrid role: equal parts scientific delivery and hands-on operational leadership, running production, supply chain, and site operations that turn scientific direction into results on the ground. Responsibilities Program Leadership Own the local program roadmap, integrating budget, scientific, operational, regulatory, and commercial workstreams into a cohesive whole. Lead a multidisciplinary team across entomological R&D, manufacturing and operations, setting priorities and holding technical leaders accountable against the CTO's scientific roadmap. Report program performance, risk, and priorities to the CTO and Program Management Office, keeping delivery aligned with agreed strategy. Drive the program's evolution from proof of concept through regional deployment and scale, with a clear line to go-to-market and long-term sustainability. Maintain strong working command of the program's science to make sound technical and resourcing calls, and to represent the program credibly to the CTO, regulators, and external stakeholders. Identify and pursue opportunities to scale and extend the technology, drawing on experience taking novel science from pilot to large-scale deployment. Operational Leadership Lead delivery of the NWS Program across the US and Americas, sterile insect production, distribution, and release and coordinating closely with in-region teams as the program expands. Ensure US operations meet all applicable federal, state, and local requirements.. Own supply chain and procurement strategy for the NWS Program, including sourcing, logistics, and distribution for production and release. Manage import, export, and trade compliance for goods and biological materials crossing US and Americas borders, with regulatory affairs. Build resilient supplier and distribution networks to support scale-up, aligned with HQ's global standards. Own the San Antonio sites (R&D, manufacturing) including facilities operations, workplace standards, landlord/broker relationships, and space planning. Ensure San Antonio meets the program's operational, biosafety, and workflow needs, leading fit-out and expansion planning as it scales. Stakeholder Management Partner with the CTO on scientific direction and program strategy, keeping the CEO and executive team informed of progress and risks. Provide operational support to US field trials (logistics, site readiness, compliance) partnering with Technology and R&D, who own trial design and resourcing. Own the strategic relationship with the NRC, positioning Flyttr as a trusted partner and shaping long-term regulatory and licensing strategy. Represent Flyttr with industry partners, academic institutions, and international bodies engaged in NWS eradication efforts. Skills, Experience, and Education Requirements Required 10+ years of progressive leadership experience directing large-scale scientific, biosecurity, agricultural, or biological manufacturing efforts, including taking novel technologies or products from scientific development through to field-scale or commercial deployment (go-to-market). Prior senior leadership experience at a federal or state agricultural agency or comparable industry experience leading the strategy and go-to-market execution of a novel technology (e.g., in an agtech, life sciences, or public health organization). Demonstrated experience directing senior scientific and operational leaders and setting program-level priorities across a multidisciplinary team. Strong track record of stakeholder management with federal and state government agencies, and comfort operating at the interface of science, policy, strategy, and commercialization. Experience managing supply chain, procurement, or logistics for a technical or regulated program, ideally spanning multiple countries. Experience managing facilities or corporate real estate for a technical, laboratory, or manufacturing site. Excellent communication and executive presence; able to represent the organization credibly with government, industry, and scientific audiences. Bachelor's degree in entomology, life sciences, agriculture, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience at a comparable level of seniority. Preferred Direct experience with biological pest management, New World Screwworm, sterile insect technique (SIT), or other area-wide pest eradication programs. Existing relationships with pertinent federal and state departments of agriculture, and Latin American agricultural/animal health authorities (e.g., SENASICA). Experience working across the US and Latin America, with Spanish-language proficiency an advantage. Advanced degree (MS, PhD, or MBA) in entomology, life sciences, agriculture, business, or a related discipline helpful but not required. Experience in a fast-scaling organization, building programs or operations from the ground up. Behavioral Requirements Commitment to, and passion for, the Flyttr mission and values. Responsive to the needs of an international business working across different time zones, adapting working patterns in-line with business requirements. Positive, humble, co-operative and professional always. Works with urgency and solves things promptly. Resilient and persistent in an innovative and constantly changing environment. Proactive, resourceful, and comfortable building processes from scratch. Values collaboration and works effectively with global colleagues. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to age, disability, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, pregnancy, marital status, medical condition, gender reassignment, veteran status, or any other status protected by law.
