Job Description Associa is looking for a Director of Accounting to join our team. The Director of Accounting is responsible for overseeing the Company's corporate accounting function, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial records, reporting, and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This position manages the day-to-day accounting operations, leads accounting staff, and serves as a key partner in financial planning, budgeting, audit coordination, and process improvement initiatives. The Director of Accounting provides leadership and guidance to the accounting team while maintaining a strong focus on internal controls, financial reporting, cash management, and operational efficiency. This role works closely with executive leadership to support strategic business decisions through accurate financial analysis and reporting. Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes. Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and variance analyses. Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger activity. Maintain corporate accounting records in accordance with GAAP. Analyze financial results and provide recommendations to leadership regarding trends, risks, and opportunities. Monitor corporate cash flow and assist with forecasting activities. Support annual budgeting and financial planning processes. Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Compliance, Audit, and Controls Coordinate annual audits and assist with auditor requests. Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for external auditors and tax preparers. Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, federal and state regulations, and company policies. Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen financial controls and increase operational efficiency. Assist with tax filings and regulatory reporting as needed. Leadership & Team Development Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members. Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management activities. Establish performance expectations and promote continuous professional development. Ensure team members have appropriate system access and resources to perform their responsibilities. Foster a collaborative, service-oriented culture within the accounting department. Business Partnership Partner with operational leaders to support financial decision-making. Provide financial analysis and operational reporting to executive leadership. Assist with system implementations, process improvements, and special projects. Serve as a subject matter expert for accounting-related matters across the organization. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Knowledge and Skills Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Strong understanding of financial reporting, general ledger management, budgeting, and internal controls. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Experience managing accounting software and ERP systems. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines. High degree of professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, and sound judgment. Strong leadership and team development capabilities. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA designation preferred. 8+ years of progressive accounting experience. 4+ years of accounting leadership or supervisory experience. Experience overseeing corporate accounting, financial reporting, audits, and month-end close processes. Experience developing and improving accounting processes and controls preferred.
