About the Role OpenTech Alliance is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead the teams that build, run, and improve our software products. Working closely with Product Management, you will turn strategy into deliverable plans and own engineering delivery, software quality, and the growth of a strong, collaborative team. It is a chance to develop great engineers, improve how teams work, and shape the future of complex production systems. Key Responsibilities Lead the teams that design, build, test, ship, and operate OpenTech products Partner with Product Management to turn strategy into realistic delivery plans Recruit, coach, and develop engineers and emerging technical leaders Remove roadblocks and use clear metrics to improve how teams deliver Balance new product work with technical debt, security, and platform health Guide architecture, engineering standards, and testing and delivery practices Keep quality, performance, scalability, and reliability built into every release Communicate progress, risks, and tradeoffs clearly across the business Qualifications Experience leading engineering for a SaaS platform, marketplace, or high-traffic web product Experience modernizing a mature platform while continuing to deliver value Strong background in cloud, distributed systems, automated delivery, and security Experience using AI-assisted development tools in a professional setting A strong track record of hiring, coaching, and growing engineering teams Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent practical experience What We’re Looking For A leader who thinks in terms of products and outcomes, not just technical output — someone who stays close to the work, trusts engineers to own their decisions, and develops strong engineers and leaders along the way.
