Director of Talent Acquisition

California | MUST reside in California | Requires occasional travel to firm offices

Confidential Search

Our client is a nationally recognized, women-led Am Law 200 firm seeking an accomplished recruiting executive to lead the next chapter of its talent strategy. Reporting directly to firm leadership, this is one of the most influential non-practicing leadership positions in the organization, responsible for defining how the firm attracts, evaluates, and integrates the attorneys and professionals who will shape its future.

Leadership views recruiting as a strategic function—not an administrative one. Your voice will carry weight.

The position is fully remote with occasional travel to firm offices for leadership meetings, partner recruitment, and strategic planning.

About the Firm

Our client is a certified B Corp that has spent decades proving its commitment to:

  • women-centered leadership
  • a collaborative, low-ego culture
  • an unwavering commitment to pro bono service
  • meaningful investments in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
  • thoughtful, sustainable growth rather than growth for growth's sake

The Opportunity

You will own and evolve the firm's recruiting strategy across attorneys and professional staff while partnering closely with executive leadership, section leaders, practice group leaders, HR, professional development, DEI leadership, and marketing.

A significant component of the position involves leading the firm's lateral partner strategy—from market intelligence and practice group planning to search firm management, partner evaluation, and successful integration.

Equally important is building a best-in-class recruiting function across the firm, creating exceptional candidate experiences, leveraging data to drive better decisions, strengthening employer brand, and mentoring a high-performing recruiting team.

You'll have both strategic influence and operational ownership.

What Makes This Opportunity Different

As the firm continues its strategic growth, this position has the possibility of evolving into the firm's first chief-level executive leadership position.

Qualifications

We're looking for someone who combines strategic vision with exceptional execution.

Ideal candidates MUST have:

  • 10+ years of attorney recruiting experience, both associates and partners, within a large law firm in California
  • 5+ years of experience leading lateral partner recruiting
  • Experience managing recruiting teams and complex hiring initiatives
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence partners and senior leadership
  • Deep understanding of the legal talent market
  • A data-driven approach to recruiting strategy
  • Passion for building inclusive, high-performing organizations

A bachelor's degree is required. A JD or advanced degree is welcomed but not required.

Compensation

Expected compensation begins around $275,000, with flexibility based on experience and qualifications, plus a comprehensive benefits package. This represents the firm’s good faith and reasonable estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation is negotiable and will depend upon several factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s years of experience, source of experience, education, proven successes, and skill set.
