We are currently hiring a Full-Time Director of Quality and Food Safety hybrid* in Breinigsville, Pennsylvania . As our Director of Quality and Food Safety, you will lead the strategy and execution of quality and food safety programs across our beverage alcohol manufacturing network, including breweries and contract manufacturing partners. You will ensure our products consistently meet regulatory, safety, quality, and brand standards while supporting innovation, operational excellence, and business growth. In this highly visible leadership role, you'll partner across the organization to foster a culture of quality, compliance, continuous improvement, and risk management. *A Hybrid position at Boston Beer requires that our coworkers reside within commuting distance to be onsite according to their teams' weekly schedule. What You'll Brew: Lead the enterprise Quality and Food Safety strategy across internal manufacturing sites and external partners, aligning programs with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and brand standards. Design, implement, and continuously improve Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI)-aligned food safety systems while ensuring audit readiness and compliance with Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), state, and international regulations. Establish and oversee supplier and contract manufacturing quality and food safety programs, including qualification, risk management, specifications, change control, and performance monitoring. Lead quality and food safety incident response activities, including investigations, product holds, recalls, withdrawals, and regulatory interactions. Drive enterprise quality performance through key performance indicators (KPIs), trend analysis, consumer complaints, sensory programs, Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), and Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) programs. Build and strengthen a culture of quality and food safety through training, standard work, leadership engagement, and partnerships across union and non-union operations. Lead, develop, and grow a multidisciplinary Quality and Food Safety organization supporting breweries, sensory operations, and contract manufacturing partners. Manage functional budgets, laboratory and system investments, and talent development initiatives to support long-term business objectives. Influence cross-functional teams across manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, research and development, regulatory, legal, and people operations to achieve enterprise quality goals. Travel up to 25% and work in both office and manufacturing environments requiring personal protective equipment (PPE), lifting up to 50 pounds, and extended periods of computer use. What Ingredients You'll Bring: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degrees in Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related scientific discipline. Minimum of 15 years of quality experience, including at least 5 years in a management role. Progressive leadership experience within beverage, alcohol, or other regulated food manufacturing environments, including multi-site and contract manufacturing operations. Strong expertise in Statistical Process Control (SPC), process improvement, Design of Experiments (DOE), and enterprise quality systems. Deep knowledge of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), sanitation programs, Safe Quality Food (SQF) or equivalent Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards, and alcohol industry regulatory requirements. Demonstrated experience leading audits, regulatory inspections, and enterprise-level CAPA programs. Experience operating within both union and non-union manufacturing environments. Strong business acumen with the ability to balance compliance, risk management, operational performance, and growth objectives. Proven ability to communicate complex technical and regulatory information to business leaders and stakeholders. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, wear required PPE, perform bending, twisting, and reaching activities, and work in manufacturing environments as needed. Preferred Qualifications: Graduate degree (Master of Science or Master of Business Administration). Experience in brewing, packaging, and/or food manufacturing environments. Experience utilizing Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). Level : 3M At the Boston Beer Company and in accordance with pay transparency laws, we are open about our salary ranges. For this role, the salary range is between $158,000 and $284,000. However, it's important to note that where the person hired starts in this range is dependent on their related experience, skillset and location. Additionally, this position qualifies for a discretionary annual bonus based on company and individual performance, and certain sales roles might include a car allowance.
