Salary Range: $130,000.00 To $180,000.00 Annually Title: Director, Training - Business and Product Portfolio Reports To: Vice President, Content Creation Department: Content Creation FLSA Status: Exempt Level: Director Location: Remote, USA Alt Work Eligibility: CWW-Y, Remote-Y Travel Requirement: 10% The starting base pay range for this position is $130,000-$180,000. Individual compensation will be commensurate with candidate's experience. This position is eligible for full benefits, as well as the Manager/Director level annual incentive bonus program. Lead the Next Chapter of AVIXA’s Training Business AVIXA is looking for a Director, Training- Business and Product Portfolio to lead and grow one of the association’s most important business lines: training. This is not a traditional curriculum-leadership role. We are looking for a commercial education/product leader who can understand what learners and customers value, what they need and will spend money and/or time for, what they will complete, and what will help AVIXA grow the reach and impact of its training for the AV industry. In this role, you will own the day-to-day strategy, roadmap, performance, and operating priorities for AVIXA’s training business. You will work with a talented internal team and cross-functional partners to make practical, data-informed decisions about what to build, improve, package, price, scale, localize, or sunset. AVIXA is a not-for-profit association for the AV industry; this position will help utilize resources efficiently to provide what the industry wants and needs in training through this period of fast change. Why This Role Is Different You will run a real business line. The role is accountable for training revenue, margin, learner volume, adoption, certification-related impact, product performance, and perceived quality. You will shape the portfolio, not just manage courses. You will lead roadmap, lifecycle, prioritization, MVP decisions, resource tradeoffs, and product recommendations. You will have senior visibility. You will work directly with the VP of Content Creation and represent the training business in important internal, customer, and cross-functional conversations. You will lead through influence. Training touches Sales, Marketing, Membership, Customer Service, Expo, IT, regional offices, Finance, technical experts, curriculum teams, and major customers. Your job is to bring those inputs together and move the business forward. You will have room to build. AVIXA expects this leader to improve operating discipline, product decision-making, customer feedback loops, roadmap clarity, and the commercial performance of training. You will help modernize learning. The role will work with emerging AI education development resources, learning delivery teams, product/project support, and content experts to explore more scalable and innovative ways to serve learners. What You Will Own Training business strategy, operating priorities, roadmap, and portfolio performance. Revenue, margin, learner volume, certification-related impact, adoption, perceived quality, and product lifecycle outcomes. Product roadmap decisions based on customer insight, sales feedback, learner behavior, financial data, certification needs, market opportunity, and team capacity. Recommendations on pricing, packaging, bundles, member/non-member value, product investment, localization opportunities, and product sunsets. Cross-functional alignment with Sales, Marketing, Membership, Customer Service, Expo, IT, regional offices, Finance, Live Content, curriculum, technical SMEs, and learning systems. Regular feedback loops with major training customers and sales teams to understand market demand, buying objections, renewal risk, product gaps, and growth opportunities. Team leadership across curriculum development, technical SME support, learning delivery and innovation, product/project support, contractors, agencies, instructors, and matrixed contributors. What We Are Looking For We are open to several possible backgrounds. You may come from certification, association education, B2B training, professional education, edtech, customer education, media/content products, events/content, SaaS/product, or another environment where education or content is treated as a product or business line. The strongest candidates will bring commercial judgment, P&L or revenue accountability, portfolio discipline, executive communication, and the ability to lead multiple teams and stakeholders toward practical business outcomes. Deep instructional design expertise is not required; we have curriculum and technical experts for that. You do need enough learning and content-development awareness to evaluate quality, challenge assumptions, manage scope, and keep effort aligned to business and learner impact. This Role May Be a Fit If You Have owned or meaningfully influenced a revenue-generating education, content, certification, training, or product portfolio. Enjoy using data, customer insight, financial signals, and sales feedback to decide what to build, improve, scale, or stop doing. Can balance learner value, brand quality, margin, speed, resource capacity, and executive stakeholder expectations. Are comfortable in customer and executive conversations and do not need a senior leader to step in for every high-stakes discussion. Know how to lead teams and stakeholders without needing every function to report directly to you. Can work with curriculum and technical experts without needing to personally write the curriculum. Understand that great education products must be useful, credible, buyable, scalable, and financially sustainable. The Opportunity This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants more than a traditional training leadership role. You will have meaningful ownership, senior visibility, a global industry platform, a talented team, and the chance to grow a business line that is central to AVIXA’s value proposition. For the right person, this role is a chance to run the training business like an operator: listen to the market, use the data, make the tradeoffs, focus the team, and help AVIXA deliver education products that learners value and customers choose to buy. Why AVIXA AVIXA is the global trade association and professional society for the audiovisual industry. Our members create the experiences that help people connect, communicate, learn, work, and gather around the world. This role offers the chance to influence a core part of AVIXA’s member value, certification ecosystem, global education strategy, and industry impact. This description describes the general duties and responsibilities of the position. It is not a complete list of duties and the employee may be required to take on additional duties and responsibilities as required by the needs of the association. EEO Policy Statement: It is the policy of AVIXA to provide equal employment opportunities to all qualified persons, and to recruit, hire, train, promote, and compensate persons in all jobs without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, or any other category protected by law.”
