Salary: $90,000–$120,000 annually.

Gerard Search is pleased to be leading the recruitment for two Directors, Leadership Giving on behalf of Breakthrough T1D.

These are exciting opportunities for experienced major gift fundraisers to lead the growth of philanthropic support for Breakthrough T1D and deepen relationships with donors, volunteers and stakeholders across Canada.

Two opportunities available:

Director, Leadership Giving | Eastern Canada

This position covers the main markets of Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland & Labrador.

Director, Leadership Giving | Western Canada

This position covers the main markets of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, with the support of one direct report within the same region.

The Opportunity

The Directors will provide leadership in the planning, execution and growth of major gift fundraising within their respective regions. They will manage and grow portfolios of new and existing donors, develop individualized cultivation and solicitation strategies, advance campaign priorities and strengthen the major gift pipeline.

Key responsibilities include:

• Manage and grow portfolios of donors and prospects, securing gifts ranging from $5,000 to $1 million.
• Develop and execute strategic cultivation, solicitation and stewardship plans.
• Lead moves management strategies to deepen engagement, increase gift levels and strengthen retention.
• Cultivate transformational, multi-year and stretch commitments.
• Build relationships with qualified prospects and identify new revenue opportunities.
• Recruit, engage and support volunteer leaders and campaign cabinet members.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the organization to develop integrated donor strategies.
• Lead regional campaign priorities and contribute to annual fundraising plans.
• Prepare donor briefings, proposals and presentations.
• Monitor portfolio health, pipeline progression and revenue forecasts.
• Maintain accurate and timely donor activity and opportunity tracking in the CRM.

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 7 years of progressive fundraising experience, with demonstrated success in major gifts.
• University or college degree in business, fundraising or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proven success closing major gifts and partnering with senior volunteers.
• Strong relationship-building, strategic planning and communication skills.
• Ability to identify and quickly assess leadership giving opportunities.
• Entrepreneurial, resourceful and results-oriented approach.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.
• CFRE designation is an asset.
• Knowledge of Type 1 diabetes, autoimmune conditions or peer-reviewed research is an asset.
• Flexibility to travel and participate in meetings and events with donors, volunteers and staff.
• Bilingual French/English is an asset.

For the Western Canada position: Candidates must reside in the Greater Vancouver area and have a valid driver’s licence and access to a personal vehicle. Approximately 30% travel is required.

For the Eastern Canada position: Candidates must reside in the Greater Montreal area and have a valid driver’s licence and access to a personal vehicle. Approximately 30% travel is required.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $90,000–$120,000 annually.
