Job Title: Distribution Designer Job Description The Distribution Designer supports the inspection of engineering and design documents for overhead and underground electrical distribution systems. This role requires a deep understanding of utility standards, ideally those of PG&E and/or SDG&E. The position involves working on both overhead and underground projects, including switchgear and transformation, demanding a high level of experience and meticulous attention to detail. Responsibilities Inspect engineering and design documents for overhead and underground electrical distribution systems. Apply knowledge of CPUC General Order 95 (GO 95) and utility construction standards. Engage with joint-use communication systems, such as telecom and cable. Complete own applications and designs. Utilize PDF and Bluebeam for document review. Complete assigned work efficiently to meet project timelines and client expectations. Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, designers, technicians, and other stakeholders. Follow all established quality assurance and safety procedures. Coordinate with client representatives to obtain required customer information. Maintain accurate daily updates within project tracking systems. Support additional project needs and responsibilities as assigned. Essential Skills 3+ years of recent experience with New Business. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Proficiency with email, Teams, and mobile communication tools. High attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy and data integrity. Familiarity with NESC and/or CPUC GO 95 standards. Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in the utility industry, specifically in inspection and electrical distribution design. Experience with QA/QC, Utility Standards, and joint-use communication systems. Ability to engage professionally with clients, property owners, and stakeholders. Work Environment This position is fully remote, allowing work from anywhere within the continental US. The role can be based in either an office or a home office setting. If travel is required, a company vehicle and expenses will be provided. This opportunity is ideal for those who value flexibility and remote work. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irvine, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
