Donor Experience Officer Description: StoryCause is seeking a Donor Experience Officer (DXO) who is articulate, concise, and engaging. The ideal candidate excels at "reading the room" with donors, understanding their level of interest by asking insightful questions. This role includes regular meetings with the partner’s Mid-Level Donor Management Team to discuss progress and specific prospects. This position will also be responsible for the retention of donors, an increase value of the portfolio, and the ability to successfully identify major gift and planned giving donors. The DXO will also reach out to all donors in their portfolio, by phone, at FYE and CYE to make a personalized donation ask, with total engagement and revenue goals set in advance. Training: The DXO will undergo a comprehensive training program with the partner, gaining in-depth knowledge of our mission, programming, efforts, and strategic plans. This may include an on-site experience at a designated partner location. The DXO will also be onboarded and trained as a new DXO in client engagement, record keeping, the use of HubSpot, etc. by DXO leadership and team members. Key Responsibilities: Steward a portfolio of +/- 1,000 mid-level donors, meeting annual performance benchmarks. Conduct initial, and ongoing, donor interviews/conversations to identify growth opportunities and contact preferences. Keep current on the partner represented through self-initiated research, partner communications, and collaboration with partner contacts. Personalize donor engagement using information provided by partner and growing knowledge about donors through relationship building. Develop and refine email and direct mail pieces for donor communications. Support the development and improvement of campaign case points and appeals. Participate in client-specific training sessions and seminars, including travel for in-person events. Engage donors authentically through phone calls, emails, mailed notes and Zoom meetings. Communicate the impact of donor generosity in a compelling manner. Collect stories and conduct surveys for our partner organizations. Provide monthly high-touch professional care of donors through multichannel engagement. Innovate with high accountability and autonomy. Collaborate with your expert team to effectively serve our partners and donors. Desired Outcomes: Drive annual donor portfolio performance to increase revenue, improve retention, and identify donors to move to planned/major gift portfolios. Build personal relationships with donors to enhance their long-term impact. Develop tailored giving plans for donors based on feedback and conversations. Requirements DXO Requirements: Due to the critical nature of the portfolio relationships, we strongly prefer candidates who can provide long-term stability for our partners by committing to a tenure of 2–3 years or more in the DXO role to foster consistent and reliable support. That said, we understand that individual circumstances may vary and welcome applications from candidates with diverse experiences and career aspirations. Must be able to complete and pass a fingerprint background check. Initial and periodic travel for training may be required. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Success in this role depends on a significant amount of creative, engaging phone conversations, writing, and ongoing email correspondence with clients and donors. Must maintain a professional demeanor and appearance, though working remotely, as heavy donor, partner, and company contact is continuous. Must be highly organized, skilled in time management, and able to work productively with minimal oversight while contributing as a valuable member of the DXO Team. Intermediate to advanced skills and understanding of CRM tools (HubSpot preferred), Microsoft Office, and multi-channel customer support systems. May also be required to create and/or present impactful presentations to donors, partner non-profit organizations, PCI/SC, etc. A DXO’s conduct could be viewed as an extension of our Partners' organization, due to the level of engagement that DXOs have with prospective donors on behalf of PCI’s Partners. DXOs are expected to adhere to PCI’s Electronic Communication & Social Media policy, which states in part: “You are responsible for the content you post, so be mindful that anything you post can reflect poorly on you, your job performance, the performance of fellow Associates, Partners, suppliers, people who work on behalf of PCI or PCI’s legitimate business interests.
