E-Resources Assistant The Opportunity Under the direction of the Head of the Continuations Workflow Group and working closely with other staff in the department, this individual shares responsibility for the daily management of acquisitions and access related tasks in support of electronic resources for Cornell University Library including initiating, maintaining and troubleshooting access to e-resources. This person has frequent contact with library materials vendors and information providers, library staff, and may also interact with library patrons. The E-Resources Assistant will help plan and complete projects associated with implementing and maintaining and maintaining FOLIO, EBSCO Discovery, and related tools for managing electronic resources. These projects may include updating and verifying extensive e-resource holdings data, documenting procedures and workflows, and testing new functionality. Responsibilities may include performing similar tasks as part of library cooperative agreements. Electronic Resource Acquisition and Maintenance (60%) FOLIO and EBSCO Discovery: Workflow and Management (25%) Electronic Resource Problem Resolution and Technical Support (10%) Other position-related responsibilities (5%) The E-Resources Assistant may be an especially good role for someone who genuinely enjoys solving puzzles, investigating why something works the way it does, and finding answers when the solution is not immediately apparent. Hours and Location The E-Resources Assistant is a full-time, 39-hour-per-week, benefits-eligible position that can be performed remotely. The position is Monday through Friday, with core team and work hours of 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM ET. Some flexibility in start and end times may be available, as determined by the supervisor. Bachelor's degree and up to 2 years relevant experience or equivalent combination. Excellent analytic and reasoning skills and the ability to make sound judgments and decisions. Flexibility and adaptability to change. Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication skills. Experience with spreadsheet software. Experience with Windows, Microsoft Office environment and word processing. Ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy and efficiency and perform multiple tasks in a timely manner. Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members. If you have all those things, great! We have a few more things that we would prefer you to have, but it’s ok if you don’t. 1-2 years of previous work experience in a technical services department of a large research library, particularly in technical services or e-resource management. Knowledge of library bibliographic description standards. Basic knowledge of integrated library systems. Employees who work remotely may receive multiple W-2 Forms depending on their work location.
