This is a fantastic opportunity to start or develop your career in publishing, supporting the editorial team and getting involved in the day-to-day work that goes into creating our inspiring books. About the team Quadrille is an award-winning illustrated non-fiction publisher, creating beautiful and distinctive books across cookery, craft, lifestyle and gifting. This is a brilliant opportunity to get involved in the publishing process, work closely with the wider editorial team and develop your skills across a varied and exciting list. The role As Editorial Assistant, you’ll play an important role in keeping the Quadrille editorial team running smoothly, providing day-to-day editorial and administrative support and helping our books come to life. Key responsibilities: Administration General office administration e.g. sorting post, arranging couriers and transport. Dealing with complaints (e.g. typos, missing pages, correspondence to customers) and submission inboxes. Sending finished copies / foreign editions to author and / or agent. Taking minutes for department meetings and circulating as directed. Liaising with the Rights and Sales teams particularly ahead of book fairs and sales conferences, but also for translation queries, author interview requests and cover approvals. Running reports from Biblio around publishing schedules and covers. Editorial Compiling the UK and US catalogues twice a year to include compelling sales copy. Oversee the reprints process and correct any errors or typos flagged by the author or editor. Checking proof corrections, proofreader’s marks, colour proofs and plotters. Assisting editors on new editions, re-use titles and buy-ins from foreign publishers. Minuting new project meetings and taking part in discussions around potential new books. Keeping an eye on Biblio data to ensure that it’s up-to-date and accurate. For this role we expect the successful candidate to work from our London-based office two days per week and offer the remaining two days to be worked remotely.
