Key Responsibilities Title I Monitoring Education Specialist This is a professional level job reporting to the Educational Coordinator whose incumbents provide leadership and are considered the statewide expert in the development and improvement of one or more educational curricular or administrative specialties in the elementary and secondary schools of the state. Expertise in an identified educational area is one of the primary elements of the specialist job. Incumbents plan, develop, promote, implement and evaluate programs in the educational specialty area. Incumbents provide statewide training for school personnel, state agencies and the public in the education specialty. Incumbents may coordinate with other educational institutions to improve the pre-service and in-service education of teachers, administrators and other school personnel. Principal Duties The Education Specialist ensures Local Education Agencies (LEAs) comply with Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills and familiarity with federal statute. The duties of the Title I, Part A Monitoring Specialist include but are not limited to: Monitoring and tracking programmatic compliance with Title I, Part A of the ESEA via desktop review and monitoring visits with LEAs throughout Utah Providing technical assistance to LEAs and other organizations Providing professional learning opportunities related to grant compliance Determining Utah’s qualifying schools for the Teacher Loan Forgiveness Program and responding to educator questions regarding the list. Participating in the Utah State Board of Education’s Paraeducator Workgroup Serving as the state ESEA Ombuds. Some required statewide and out-of-state travel. Qualifications The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate for this position is an educator who has: Master’s degree in education, preferred At least five years of successful professional experience in a position requiring an educator's or administrator’s license Experience with adult learners Experience with federal and/or state grants Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Familiarity with grants management systems.
