Job Title: Electrical Controls Engineer Job Description As an Electrical Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, testing, and support of electrical equipment, wiring, control equipment, and data acquisition systems. This role entails designing and validating custom equipment and components for new equipment, as well as upgrading existing facilities. Responsibilities Develop or reuse system design solutions to meet customer requirements and partner with designers and project teams to deliver complete design packages, including drawings and BOMs. Design and develop electronic subsystems, including data acquisition systems, control and integration of electro-mechanical valves and instrumentation such as temperatures, pressures, and flow. Perform engineering tasks on schedule and within budget, ensuring system design aligns with as-sold scope, customer requirements, quality standards, and industry codes. Document and present work in accordance with quality requirements, preparing design criteria, calculation packages, procurement specifications, technical reports, validation plans, and product manuals. Interface with procurement, production, and installation teams to resolve issues discovered during assembly and test, and travel to customer and subcontractor sites for design reviews, site surveys, and system commissioning. Assist marketing in developing proposals for future work by developing concepts, cost estimates, proposal write-ups, analyses, options, and recommendations. Essential Skills Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. 5+ years of practical work experience in controls, electronics, or data acquisition systems. Proficiency in electrical engineering and design with AutoCAD Electrical. Experience in controls engineering and PLC programming, including troubleshooting and P&ID (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams). Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with the design and implementation of automation or data acquisition systems in an industrial setting. Proficiency with LabVIEW or PLCs with at least 5 years' experience. Strong experience with PLC, electro-mechanical systems, and software programming. Experience with one-line power diagrams and electrical load sizing. Experience with sensor hardware selections, such as thermocouples, RTDs, pressure transducers, LVDTs, and switches. Ability to travel domestically and internationally, typically less than 15%. Work Environment The position offers a hybrid work environment with the option to work from home on Mondays and Fridays . The work schedule follows a 9/80 pattern, allowing for longer weekends.
