Job Title: Senior Electrical Estimator / Cost Manager Job Description The Senior Electrical Estimator / Cost Manager plays a key role in preconstruction and MEP cost management, leading conceptual and detailed electrical estimating for large, high-impact construction programs across multiple market sectors. This position focuses on shaping project budgets from the earliest stages, providing reliable cost guidance on complex and evolving electrical scopes, and partnering closely with clients, internal stakeholders, and project teams to drive informed cost decisions and value outcomes. Responsibilities Develop comprehensive conceptual, schematic, and detailed cost estimates for the electrical scope across multiple preconstruction projects. Support budget development, cost planning, feasibility studies, and value engineering efforts throughout early project phases. Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews on estimating deliverables to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with project objectives. Plan workloads and manage tasks for estimating activities, ensuring deadlines are met and resources are effectively utilized. Conduct value analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining performance, quality, and design intent. Reconcile change orders, invoices, and cost impacts in collaboration with general contractors, subcontractors, and third-party partners. Provide post-contract cost support, including bid analysis, change management, and ongoing cost monitoring for active projects. Participate in risk and value management evaluations, helping project teams understand cost-related risks and mitigation strategies. Mentor and support estimators and estimating technicians, strengthening their technical skills, procedural knowledge, and understanding of electrical scopes. Develop and maintain strong client relationships through clear communication, timely responses, and dependable cost consulting services. Prepare client-facing reports, milestone estimates, and executive-ready summaries that clearly present key cost drivers and recommendations. Engage with internal stakeholders, project controls teams, and leadership to ensure alignment on budgets, assumptions, and project strategies. Participate in peer reviews and continuous improvement initiatives to refine estimating processes, tools, and standards. Stay informed on local market conditions, construction trends, and industry best practices, and incorporate this knowledge into cost planning and guidance. Support bidding and quantity take-offs for electrical and low-voltage scopes, ensuring estimates reflect accurate quantities and current market pricing. Essential Skills At least 5 years of experience in electrical estimating from a subcontractor background, with hands-on exposure to trades-level detail. Strong background in conceptual estimating and early project planning for electrical and MEP scopes. Deep technical understanding of electrical systems, scopes, and construction methodologies in commercial construction environments. Proven experience supporting large, complex construction projects across multiple market sectors. Ability to read and interpret construction schedules, drawings, and specifications to inform accurate cost estimates. Advanced proficiency with cost estimating methods, processes, and tools used in electrical construction. Strong Excel skills for data analysis, estimate development, and reporting. Comfort and proficiency with modern estimating and construction software, including Accubid, Bluebeam, and Procore. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client-facing reporting, internal coordination, and stakeholder engagement. Ability to analyze incomplete or evolving design information and provide clear, defensible cost guidance and options. Ability to perform at a high level in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, managing multiple projects and priorities. Experience with quantity surveying, bidding, and take-offs for electrical and low-voltage systems. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working as a cost consultant or in a project budgets role within MEP or electrical construction. background in commercial construction projects and familiarity with large program delivery. Experience in value engineering and value analysis for electrical and MEP scopes. Demonstrated ability to build strong client relationships and act as a trusted advisor on cost and budget decisions. Interest in continuous learning and professional development, including participation in ongoing education platforms. Ability to collaborate effectively with regional offices and project teams across different locations. Experience participating in peer reviews, QA/QC processes, and continuous improvement initiatives in an estimating or cost management context. Work Environment This is a salaried position designed around a 40-hour workweek that promotes work-life balance. The role offers fully remote flexibility within the United States and is aligned to regional teams, with collaboration across multiple offices. More Senior levels, such as associate or director, work in at least a hybrid capacity with regional offices located in the Northwest (Sacramento/Roseville), Southwest (San Diego), Central (Nashville), Northeast (Manhattan), and Southeast (Miami). Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lake Oswego, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $57.69 - $75.11/hr.
