Job Title: Electromagnetic Engineer Job Description The Electromagnetic Engineer will play a crucial role in the design, analysis, and optimization of advanced Infinity One and Infinity Two projects. In this position, you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to model and assess electromagnetic fields and forces using advanced simulation codes, contributing directly to research, development, and performance improvements of complex electromagnetic and fusion-related systems. Responsibilities Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to analyse electromagnetic fields and forces for complex devices and research components. Assess transient and static electromagnetic fields and forces on specific components of Infinity One and Infinity Two devices, as well as research and development components. Set up, run, and refine electromagnetic and magnet simulations using advanced multiphysics and electromagnet codes. Import and prepare designs from Siemens NX or similar CAD platforms and upload them to simulation software, ensuring models are accurate and ready for analysis. Maintain detailed documentation of design assumptions, simulation setups, analysis methods, and results in a clear and organised manner. Assist in the preparation of technical reports, publications, and presentations that communicate findings to internal teams and external stakeholders. Collaborate with internal engineering teams, external partners, and research institutions to leverage expertise and stay current with developments in electromagnetics and fusion technology. Analyse magnetic fields in the presence of ferromagnetic materials and compute forces acting on these materials to inform design decisions. Contribute to the design and analysis of superconducting magnets and related components, supporting performance and safety objectives. Use data analysis and visualisation tools to interpret simulation results, identify trends, and recommend design optimisations. Participate actively in team discussions, design reviews, and project planning activities within a multidisciplinary environment. Essential Skills Proven experience in electromagnetic analysis and simulation, including magnet simulation and field assessment. Hands-on experience with at least one advanced simulation software, such as COMSOL (preferred), ANSYS Maxwell, or Opera. Ability to perform electromagnetic and magnet simulations and interpret results to guide design and optimisation. Minimal CAD design experience, preferably with Siemens NX, including the ability to navigate models and export geometries for simulation. Expertise in multiphysics and electromagnet codes such as COMSOL, ANSYS Maxwell, and Opera. Expertise in analysing magnetic fields in the presence of ferromagnetic materials and computing forces on those materials. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills applied to complex engineering challenges. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly. Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications A degree in an engineering discipline, physics, or a related field. Familiarity and experience designing and/or analysing superconducting magnets. Familiarity with CAD software, preferably Siemens NX, even at a basic level. Knowledge of fusion energy and magnetic confinement concepts. Proficiency with software tools for data analysis and visualisation. Interest in staying updated on the latest developments in electromagnetics and fusion technology. Ability to contribute to technical reports, publications, and collaborative research efforts. Work Environment This role is fully remote, offering flexibility in where you work while collaborating closely with a distributed, multidisciplinary team. You will work primarily with advanced simulation tools such as COMSOL, ANSYS Maxwell, Opera, and CAD platforms like Siemens NX, as well as data analysis and visualisation software. The environment supports research-focused, high-impact engineering work on cutting-edge electromagnetic and fusion-related projects, with billable holiday and paid time off benefits including two weeks of PTO and six days of billable holidays. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Knoxville, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $80.00/hr.
