Embedded Software Engineer — B2B / Part-time
ABOUT RHYTHM TOUCH
RHYTHM TOUCH is an award-winning technology startup dedicated to taking music beyond sound.
How? By developing a bracelet that converts music into vibrations for deaf and hard-of-hearing people.
We are currently looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join our team and directly contribute to the development and improvement of our current prototype. You won't just be working on an isolated task: you will play a key role in the firmware, audio processing, and control of the product's haptic experience.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Improve audio signal acquisition.
- Work on filtering and noise reduction, including both electrical and mechanical noise.
- Optimize the existing sound-to-vibration conversion algorithm and help improve how different music components are translated into haptic feedback.
- Work with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) concepts: filtering, sampling, FFT, and signal analysis.
- Program and synchronize digital LEDs.
- Develop and optimize AVR firmware.
- Work directly with hardware peripherals such as ADC, Timers, PWM, Interrupts, UART, I2C, and SPI.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Must-haves:
- Solid experience in Embedded C/C++.
- Hands-on experience with microcontrollers and peripheral/register-level programming.
- Experience with AVR / ATmega.
- Strong knowledge of ADC, Timers, PWM, and interrupts.
- Practical knowledge of Digital Signal Processing (DSP).
- Understanding of filtering, sampling, FFT, and noise reduction concepts.
- Experience in audio signal processing.
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience with haptic feedback / haptic interfaces.
- Experience with ERM/LRA motors or other haptic actuators.
- Experience with protocols such as UART, I2C, and SPI.
- Experience with addressable LEDs.
- Experience with hardware-software prototype development.
HOW WE WORK
- Collaboration type: B2B
- Schedule: Part-time, approx. 10–15 hours/week
- Initial duration: 3 months, with the possibility of extension
- Location: Remote
- Hardware: We provide the prototype, development board, and necessary components for work and testing, plus anything else needed.
- Compensation: Negotiable, based on experience and technical skill level.
During the selection process, we will also have a brief technical discussion to understand your experience and ensure a good fit between your skills and the project's needs.
