Project Manager – Grid Connections

Job Type: Permanent & Full-Time

Location: Dublin (Hybrid, 2 Days in Office, 3 Days Remote/WFH)

The Project Manager will have reporting duties into the Programme Manager onwards up to into Senior Stakeholders.

Our client are the people behind Ireland’s Electricity Grid. They operate the Power System with world leading levels of variable asynchronous Renewable Generation, ensuring that everyone has power when they need it. But that’s not all, we are now transforming the Power System for future generations.

The role will be responsible for end‑to‑end project delivery of all transmission‑level customer connections — generation, demand, and interconnections. This includes projects at both transmission voltage and distribution voltage where transmission works are required. The Infrastructure Office is responsible for leading the Development and Delivery of the Power System including connection of New Renewable Sources of Electricity to the National Grid.

The Project Manager will work alongside with the Programme Manager to successfully deliver New Generation Connection offer batches, manage reporting and support management of the delivery team of offer owners. The Project Manager will ensure efficient delivery of Generation Connection offers, ensuring quality of inputs are delivered at each stage of the offer process to meet required regulatory delivery timelines.

The Project Manager will have previous Project Management experience and will oversee the deliverables of a schedule and a high performing internal offer process team to deliver report inputs across a number of areas.

The Project Manager will support the team to be a source of “best practise” for offer process delivery and develop a culture of continuous improvement within the wider Offer Process programme. We will look to you to support the development of high-performance behaviours and processes within the team in order to ensure a smooth offer process delivery plus a proactive customer and stakeholder engagement approach. They will work collaboratively with and provide support, guidance and assistance to team members and other teams.

They will collaborate with peers to meet business priorities, manage complex technical and commercial issues as they arise, provide technical guidance and act as an escalation point as necessary. You will support the team in effective engagement and coordination with customers and stakeholders including regular and effective communication, understanding their needs, meaningful engagement, accurate reporting and relationship management as applicable.

Qualifications: Engineering degree or equivalent NFQ 8,

Experience & Competencies:

5+ years of experience within a similar role with a Project Delivery background and experience working in a regulated environment

Proven experience of managing multiple deliverables for overall project delivery with multiple cross-function team input required – overseeing the delivery of complex solutions and an ability to drive successful outcomes.

Will have the ability to lead, persuade and influence others to move towards a common deadline or goal and to work collaboratively with and through others through developed skills of communication and diplomacy.

Will have a strong understanding of the complex technical and commercial aspects of the power industry, connection customers and key industry stakeholders.

Will have the ability to ability to motivate and team members in high performance capabilities in a changing and dynamic environment.

Will have excellent analysis, judgement and problem-solving skills along with an ability to make decisions promptly and effectively.

Will be passionate, engaging with a drive and enthusiasm to deliver on the company strategy with and through others.

Will have proven experience of effective Stakeholder Engagement in a complex environment with an ability to drive successful outcomes.

Will have experience in conceiving and introducing innovative ideas, solutions or new ways of doing things to solve business problems, enhance business performance and collaborate with business experts to drive successful outcomes.

Will be an excellent communicator, able to understand and articulate technical and/or commercial concepts to non-technical audiences and business leaders.

Will be skilled in high quality writing and the ability to communicate effectively with customers and business stakeholders, (including senior management team), via meetings, presentations, conversations and reports.
