Essential for the Role: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, and/or Communications Engineering or a related discipline. Professional membership with recognized institutions (e.g., Institute of Engineering and Technology IET or equivalent). Minimum 5-10 years’ experience involved in Electrical/Electronics, Traffic Signals, and/or Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) for Highways/ Infrastructure projects Experience working on international projects, particularly in the UK, US, Canada, or the Middle East. Design and develop traffic signalized intersections. Design and develop Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) solutions, including Variable Message Signs (VMS), CCTV systems, MIDAS, HAWIS, HADECS, Vehicle detection systems, Emergency Roadside Telephones (ERT), and Power & Communication networks. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate ITS designs into broader transport and infrastructure projects. Conduct feasibility studies, and technical evaluations to inform ITS design and implementation. Prepare detailed design documentation, specifications, and drawings for Traffic Signal and ITS projects. Provide technical support and guidance to clients and project teams throughout the project lifecycle. Stay updated with the latest advancements in Traffic/ITS technologies and standards to ensure cutting-edge design solutions. Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to ensure successful project delivery. Ensure Traffic Signal and ITS designs comply with relevant safety, regulatory, and quality standards. Demonstrate a strong understanding of British, American, Canadian, and other international design standards and specifications. Proficient in design software particularly AutoCAD, Civils 3D, Navisworks. LinSig, and Amtech/Trimble Pro for Electrical Calculations. Familiarity with modern communication tools and online collaboration platforms. Good command of Microsoft Office package. Proven ability to deliver work within set time frames. Experience/evidence and ability to work independently and manage small/medium size projects. Desirable: Previous work experience of Traffic Signals and/or Intelligent Transport System (ITS). Experience of specification and programming of traffic signals controllers, and all signal modes including UTC/SCOOT and MOVA. Experience working in an offshoring or global delivery environment. Exposure to digital delivery methods. Ability to mentor junior team members and collaborate effectively with wider teams. Proactive approach to staying updated with emerging technologies such as AI, Digital Twin, Edge Computing, Quantum Technology, and AI-powered traffic signal systems.
