The Engineer I has a passion for tackling hard problems and plays a pivotal role in shaping the definition, design, and development of the systems at U.S. Xpress. Position Functions: Implement, test, and maintain innovative software solutions to transform service performance, durability, cost, and security. Participate in the development lifecycle with a focus on developing new features and functionalities for assigned software applications. Learn and apply software engineering best practices to ensure a high standard of quality for all the team deliverables. Learn to work in an agile development environment by being adaptable, focusing on mentor relationships, and being a great team player. What We’re Looking For: Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field required Experience Basic Web Development experience using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript Transportation, Logistics, and/or Tech industry experience a plus Skills & Abilities Basic understanding of software development including basic data algorithms, object oriented programming principles, debugging, and version control Eagerness to learn new technologies Excellence in communicating with team members Adept at assessing organizational dynamics and managing change Works quickly and efficiently. Able to test solutions, learn, and iterate quickly Proactive and pragmatic problem solver Communicates effectively across multiple mediums Licenses & Certifications N/A Supervisory Responsibility N/A Work Environment: This job operates in a normal professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, fax machines, and filing cabinets.
