The Senior Engineer, Inverters supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of inverter and power conversion system (PCS) equipment across ENGIE's utility-scale solar and battery energy storage portfolio in the United States. In this role, you will analyze equipment performance, troubleshoot technical issues, investigate failures, and help identify solutions that improve asset availability and reliability. You'll collaborate with Operations, Engineering, OEMs, and service providers to resolve equipment challenges and support ongoing performance optimization efforts. The position also contributes to inverter technology evaluations, project design and commissioning reviews, and operational readiness activities to help incorporate lessons learned into future projects. What You’ll Do Monitor and evaluate inverter and battery power conversion system (PCS) performance, operating parameters, and maintenance data to identify issues, emerging trends, and opportunities to improve equipment availability, reliability, and safe operation Troubleshoot inverter and PCS equipment issues in partnership with field teams, OEMs, Grid Compliance, and cross-functional engineering groups to support timely and effective resolution Conduct and support root-cause analyses of equipment failures, recurring alarms, and performance concerns, validating findings and recommending corrective actions to reduce repeat failures and unplanned downtime Review inverter and PCS settings, controls, and operating strategies, identifying opportunities to optimize performance while maintaining safety, equipment integrity, and regulatory compliance Support the evaluation of inverter and PCS technologies for new solar and battery energy storage projects, providing input on operational, reliability, maintainability, and safety considerations Participate in design reviews, commissioning activities, and operational readiness assessments, incorporating operational experience and lessons learned to support long-term asset performance Develop and maintain technical documentation, including troubleshooting guides, commissioning procedures, maintenance practices, standard operating procedures, and engineering recommendations Communicate technical findings, risks, recommendations, and project outcomes to stakeholders across Operations, Engineering, and project teams What You’ll Bring Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, technical training, military experience, and relevant industry experience Minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience supporting power conversion equipment, renewable energy assets, power systems, or related industrial electrical systems Strong understanding of inverter, converter, and power conversion system (PCS) technologies, including DC-to-AC power conversion, power semiconductor components, equipment subsystems, controls, and operating parameters Experience troubleshooting, testing, commissioning, operating, or providing engineering support for power electronic equipment, preferably within utility-scale solar, battery energy storage, or other operating energy assets Experience investigating equipment performance issues and failures, conducting root-cause analyses, and partnering with equipment manufacturers to implement corrective actions, warranty resolutions, and reliability improvements Working knowledge of SCADA systems and industrial communication protocols (such as Modbus and DNP3), with the ability to interpret operating data, alarms, drawings, specifications, commissioning documentation, and equipment records Familiarity with inverter and PCS technologies, grid compliance requirements, ISO/RTO operating environments (ERCOT, PJM, MISO, SPP, or similar), and applicable industry standards including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities Additional Details This role is eligible for our hybrid in-office work policy and is not eligible for fully remote work Must be available to travel domestically up to 30% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies Compensation Salary Range: $102,000 – $156,000 USD annually This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate. ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
