Engineering Manager Apply Overview Position Type Full Time Category Technology Apply Engineering Manager Job Summary: As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for managing the development of our software products that are used to support Bamboo’s business. These applications can be both internal and external customer facing such as policy administration for agents or policy management for insureds. You will set the development standards for the team of software engineers that will report to you, including coding standards, development methodology, and will be responsible for meeting deliverable dates. In addition, you will be hands on with development and programming and will provide architectural design oversight to ensure our applications are scalable and maintainable. Supervisory Responsibilities: Software Engineer Duties/Responsibilities: Hire and build a globally distributed team with a growth mindset Establish development standards and methodologies and cross-team processes that are continually improved upon Provide software architecture designs and be able to evaluate design tradeoffs so that system performance, maintainability, is not overly negatively impacted Plan and execute long term strategies that benefit your team and meet business objectives Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy Required Skills/Abilities: Programming skills in Java or Guidewire Xcenter Full Stack development experience Ability to present technical concepts to a non-technical audience Strong people management skill set: Hiring, training, supervision, coaching, mentoring, and developing top talent Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills Ability to establish rapport, credibility, trust, and positive relationships with direct reports, including those working remotely Ability to effectively plan and prioritize work activities Able to provide an environment that encourages and develops new ideas from employees and management peers Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience At least four years related engineering management experience required At least 6 years of IT development experience with Java/Guidewire experience Supervisory experience, managing a team of at least four direct reports SaaS Experience – developing SaaS for external consumers Preferred Requirements: Four or more years related engineering management experience required 6 or more years of IT development experience with Java/Guidewire experience React or nextjJS or any frontend related experience Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
