Role Description
The English Tutor role at StudySmiths is a part-time, remote position focused on delivering high-quality online lessons to GCSE and A-Level students.
Responsibilities include:
* Planning and delivering engaging English Language and Literature lessons tailored to each student’s needs.
* Explaining complex concepts clearly and helping students develop confidence in their abilities.
* Supporting key skills including essay writing, analysis, comprehension, grammar, and exam technique.
* Assessing student progress and adapting teaching strategies to maximise improvement.
* Creating exam-style resources, practice questions, and independent study materials.
* Providing constructive feedback to students and, where appropriate, parents or guardians.
* Maintaining clear communication through our online learning platform.
Candidate Requirements
We are looking for exceptional individuals to join our small, growing team.
Successful applicants will:
* Be currently studying at a top UK university.
* Have achieved A* grades at A-Level (essential).
* Have a strong academic background in English or a related subject.
* Have previous tutoring or teaching experience, ideally supporting GCSE and/or A-Level students.
* Demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with students.
* Be able to simplify complex ideas and explain concepts in an engaging way.
* Have strong organisation skills and the ability to manage lesson planning independently.
* Be comfortable delivering lessons remotely using online teaching platforms.
* Have a reliable internet connection and a professional approach to online tutoring.
An Enhanced DBS check is preferred (or willingness to obtain one).
