Job Description We are currently seeking a Junior Level Engineer to join our team in Florida. The primary focus of this role is to support power distribution infrastructure upgrades and storm hardening projects throughout the state. This is an exciting opportunity to work on projects that will significantly enhance the reliability of power distribution across Florida. Responsibilities Conduct field assessments, including site visits, visual inspections, measurements, photographs, and writing detailed field reports. Support design work, including engineering calculations and designs for replacing deteriorated cable, moving overhead lines underground, reconductoring existing distribution lines, and replacing aging equipment. Perform engineering calculations, such as structural analysis, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, fault currents, and coordination of protective devices. Essential Skills Bachelor of Science in Engineering from a four-year ABET-accredited college or university. Interest in Power/Energy/Utilities. Ability to work in the field 80% of the time. Proficiency in distribution design and power distribution. Experience with BOUD, Bentley Open Utility Designer, quality control, Smallworld, Maximo, Pole Load, and AutoCAD. Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles. Good written and oral communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and initiative. Additional Skills & Qualifications Basic knowledge of concepts in the electric utility industry, including primary and secondary distribution systems and utility standards. Ability to use design software packages. General construction knowledge and aptitude. Experience in the electric utility industry preferred but not required. Work Environment This position offers a fully remote work environment combined with fieldwork. It requires work from home as well as travel to various project sites across the geographic area between Spring Hill and Tallahassee, Florida. A significant portion of the work involves outdoor activities in the Florida elements. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tampa, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $27.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
