We're one global team driven by our common purpose to deliver a better world. Join us. AECOM is actively seeking a Entry-Level Structural Bridge Engineer for our Roanoke, Virginia office. As a Structural Bridge Engineer, you will work with project teams in developing a range of engineering solutions from initial concepts through to detailed design for implementation and support roles during the construction phase. This is a diverse role that will involve your contribution and insight into the effective delivery of its current and future portfolio of projects. This position is expected to start Spring/Summer 2027. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Assist in the structural analysis and design of highway, railroad, and pedestrian bridges in accordance with AASHTO, DOT, and local agency standards. Prepare engineering calculations, design reports, and technical documentation under the guidance of senior engineers. Develop and revise bridge plans, details, and construction documents using MicroStation, AutoCAD, OpenBridge, or similar design software. Support bridge load ratings, inspections, and condition assessments for existing structures. Perform quantity calculations and assist with cost estimates for bridge rehabilitation and replacement projects. Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams, including roadway, geotechnical, hydraulic, and traffic engineers. Participate in field inspections, data collection, and construction observation activities. Review shop drawings, material submittals, and contractor requests for information (RFIs) during construction. Assist with the preparation of engineering studies, feasibility analyses, and alternatives evaluations. Ensure design work complies with client requirements, applicable codes, and quality control procedures. Support project managers with schedule tracking, project documentation, and client deliverables. Utilize engineering software to perform structural modeling and bridge analysis. Minimum Requirements Bachelor of Science from an ABET accredited program in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related field. Valid US Driver's License is required for this position. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review. Preferred Qualifications Engineer in Training (EIT) certification. Master of Science (with Structural Engineering concentration). Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel. Familiarity with AASHTO Codes and Bridge Engineering practices. Structural problem analysis skills (including knowledge/use of design and calculation tools, software). Experience with computer analysis and design software such as LEAP Bridge, STAAD.Pro, AASHTOWare BrR, CSiBridge, and MDX. Experience with MicroStation, OpenBridge, and AutoCAD. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with clients in a professional manner. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Available for periodic travel.
