We're one global team driven by our common purpose to deliver a better world. Join us. AECOM is currently seeking an Entry-Level Geologist for employment near Portland, OR. In this role, you will work under the guidance of Project Managers, geologists, engineers, and scientists to support environmental investigation, remediation, and monitoring projects at client facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in geology, environmental science, or a related field, along with an interest in fieldwork, data collection, and environmental compliance. Typical projects include site investigations, groundwater monitoring, soil and groundwater remediation, environmental assessments, and construction support activities. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Conducting routine fieldwork, including groundwater, soil, surface water, sediment, and vapor sampling under the supervision of senior staff. Performing groundwater level measurements, field observations, and environmental data collection. Assisting with environmental site investigations, drilling programs, monitor well installation, and remedial system monitoring activities. Recording accurate field notes and preparing field documentation in accordance with project requirements. Assisting with environmental data management, quality assurance reviews, and interpretation of field and laboratory results. Supporting the preparation of technical reports, permit applications, work plans, and other project deliverables. Coordinating with project teams, subcontractors, laboratories, and regulatory agencies as directed. Assisting with construction observation and environmental compliance monitoring activities. Following established health and safety procedures and participating in project safety planning. Supporting project managers, geologists, and engineers on a variety of environmental investigation and remediation projects. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Hydrogeology, Geosciences, or a related field or a demonstrated equivalency of education and experience. Due to the nature of this role, U.S. citizenship is required. Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Ability to travel between project sites and perform fieldwork in varying weather and site conditions. Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test. Ability to obtain site-specific clearances, including client-required background, medical, and drug screening requirements, if applicable. Ability to obtain Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within 30 days of hire. Ability to work outdoors on uneven terrain and in varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, dust, noise, and moisture. Ability to lift and carry field equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with occasional heavier lifting performed with assistance. Willingness to travel and occasionally work extended hours to support field investigations and project schedules. Preferred Qualifications: Internship, cooperative education, or field experience related to environmental consulting, geology, hydrogeology, or environmental science. Experience with environmental sampling techniques, including groundwater, soil, surface water, sediment, or vapor sampling. Familiarity with geologic logging, drilling oversight, and monitor well installation activities. Experience using GPS equipment, field data collection applications, and Microsoft Office software. Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations. Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills. Current OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training (preferred but not required). Working knowledge of GIS software, environmental databases, or environmental data management systems.
