The Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Specialist supports the Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) programs across multiple locations by partnering with Operations, Fleet, Human Resources, and site leadership to promote workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental stewardship. This role conducts safety audits, supports incident investigations, delivers employee training, monitors compliance, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to help create a safe and compliant work environment. This position reports to the EH&S leadership team. Key Responsibilities Support compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, DEA, CDC, and state environmental regulations while maintaining required permits, records, and documentation. Conduct facility safety inspections, operational observations, compliance audits, and hazard assessments to identify risks and recommend corrective actions. Investigate workplace injuries, vehicle accidents, near misses, environmental incidents, and property damage, including root cause analysis and corrective action tracking. Support environmental compliance programs involving regulated medical waste, hazardous waste, stormwater, wastewater, air emissions, spill prevention, and pollution prevention. Deliver employee safety training, including Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazard Communication, DOT Hazmat, PPE, Emergency Response, and other required regulatory programs. Maintain EH&S databases, training records, inspection reports, incident documentation, and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual compliance reports. Analyze EH&S performance metrics, identify trends, and recommend continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety and regulatory compliance. Provide day-to-day EH&S guidance to facility leadership and employees while supporting emergency response planning, fleet safety initiatives, and transportation compliance. Assist with customer audits, regulatory inspections, facility startups, operational changes, and special projects. Travel to Company locations to conduct audits, investigations, training, inspections, and operational support. Ensure timely reporting of workplace injuries to insurance carriers and third-party. Perform additional duties as required. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience). 3-5 years of EH&S experience in manufacturing, transportation, logistics, healthcare, regulated medical waste, pharmaceutical, or industrial operations. Experience conducting safety inspections, compliance audits, incident investigations, and implementing corrective actions. Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and environmental compliance regulations; experience with hazardous or regulated medical waste programs is preferred. Professional certifications such as ASP, CSP, OSHA 30-Hour General Industry, DOT Hazardous Materials Training, or HAZWOPER are preferred. Strong knowledge of occupational safety principles, industrial hygiene, hazard recognition, risk assessment, and environmental compliance. Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and EH&S management systems. Ability to build strong working relationships with employees and leaders across multiple locations. Ability to travel approximately 40-50%, including overnight travel, and perform work in industrial and outdoor environments while wearing required personal protective equipment.
