For more information, visit our website: www.turnerandtownsend.com The Environmental Specialist is responsible for conducting and supporting environmental due diligence activities related to acquisitions, divestitures, investments, leasing transactions, and other strategic business initiatives. The role ensures identification, assessment, and communication of environmental risks and liabilities associated with assets, properties, operations, and projects. The position supports informed business decision-making by evaluating environmental compliance, potential contamination issues, regulatory obligations, and sustainability-related risks. The Environmental Specialist works closely with internal stakeholders, external consultants, legal teams, and business leaders to provide expert environmental guidance and recommendations throughout transaction and project lifecycles. Key Accountabilities Lead and support environmental due diligence assessments for mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, real estate transactions, and other business activities. Review and evaluate Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, environmental audits, compliance reports, and technical studies. Identify potential environmental liabilities, regulatory risks, remediation obligations, and permit-related issues associated with assets and operations. Assess environmental compliance with applicable local, national, and international regulations and standards. Coordinate and manage external environmental consultants and technical experts engaged in due diligence activities. Prepare environmental risk summaries, reports, and recommendations for business leaders and decision-makers. Support development of risk mitigation plans and post-transaction environmental integration activities. Collaborate with Legal, Real Estate, EHS, Sustainability, Operations, and Corporate Development teams throughout transaction processes. Monitor emerging environmental regulations and industry best practices to ensure due diligence processes remain current and effective. Maintain environmental due diligence procedures, tools, documentation standards, and reporting frameworks. Support internal environmental risk management initiatives and provide technical expertise on environmental matters when required. Contribute to continuous improvement of environmental governance and risk assessment processes across the organization. Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Earth Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Management, or a related discipline. Master's degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., Environmental Auditor, Certified Environmental Professional, Registered Environmental Manager) are an advantage. Experience Minimum 3–5 years of experience in environmental consulting, environmental risk assessment, environmental compliance, due diligence, or a related field. Experience conducting environmental due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions, industrial facilities, or infrastructure projects. Demonstrated experience reviewing environmental assessments, compliance audits, and contamination investigations. Experience working with environmental regulations and permitting requirements across multiple jurisdictions is preferred. Familiarity with remediation projects, contaminated land management, and environmental liability assessment is an advantage. Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of environmental due diligence methodologies and environmental regulations. Ability to identify, assess, and communicate environmental risks and liabilities effectively. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent report writing and presentation skills. Ability to interpret technical environmental reports and complex regulatory requirements. Strong project management and organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under tight deadlines. Effective stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills. High level of professional judgment, integrity, and business acumen. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and environmental data management tools.
