About Us We are a fast-growing, fully remote digital marketing and technology company founded in 2023, We specialise in affiliate SEO, digital publishing, and performance-led growth. What sets us apart is how we work. We move quickly, act decisively, and continuously refine our approach to stay ahead of the market. We are a hardworking team that values clarity and results. We communicate directly, execute with focus, and are committed to doing things properly. At the same time, we’ve built a genuinely friendly and supportive environment where ideas are shared openly and collaboration comes naturally. We don’t wait for opportunities; we identify them early and execute with precision. We’re not here to participate. We’re here to outperform! esportsnow.com sits within the group portfolio, and is the group’s first English-language esports title, launching in September, and this is its first editorial hire. The Role The Esports Lead Editor owns the on-site editorial output of esportsnow.com from launch. This is the site’s first editorial hire: you set the voice, publish the daily news, run live coverage of majors and finals, and keep the site current. esportsnow.com will deliver broader coverage, deeper analysis and a bigger community-first approach than anyone else. Off-site social channels are owned by a dedicated Social Media Manager; this role supplies them with the content and assets they need, and the two work in close step during live events and breaking news. Reporting to the Head of Content, the role suits someone who would rather write a style guide than inherit one, and who is comfortable being the only person in the newsroom while the team is built around them. This position is fully remote. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a distributed team and communicating effectively in a virtual environment. Key Responsibilities News & Editorial Research, write and publish up to 5 news posts per day on esportsnow.com - roster moves, patch impacts, tournament results, org announcements and scene drama - with turnaround measured in minutes, not editorial cycles. Cover our core titles: Dota 2, Counter-Strike 2, Valorant, League of Legends and Call of Duty , with [two] titles prioritised at launch and the remainder phased in as coverage scales. Produce supporting formats alongside news: tournament previews and recaps, player and team profiles, meta and patch analysis, and explainers for readers new to a title. Maintain accuracy and sourcing standards - verify before publishing and correct transparently and promptly when something is wrong. Live Coverage Embed, schedule and manage live streams (Twitch, YouTube, publisher platforms) in WordPress so that majors and finals are watchable directly on site in real time. Keep embeds correct as brackets progress - swapped, rescheduled and removed as events conclude. Build and maintain a match and tournament calendar across all covered titles, aligned to the [EU] competitive calendar. Supporting Social & Community Supply the Social Media Manager with the content they request - story summaries, key lines and quotes, clip-worthy moments, images and assets - to their deadlines. Flag breaking and high-interest stories to the Social Media Manager as they publish, so social can move on them quickly. Act as the editorial voice on site, including on-site comments, as the recognisable name readers follow. Feed reader insight back into editorial: what readers ask about, argue about and search for should shape the content plan. Not in scope: posting, scheduling or moderating off-site social channels (X, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, Discord) - these sit with the dedicated Social Media Manager. Site & SEO Publish and format all content independently in WordPress: media, featured images, categories, tags and internal linking. Keep evergreen pages accurate - game hubs, tournament pages, team and player pages - as rosters, patches and formats change. Apply on-page SEO fundamentals: titles, meta descriptions, heading structure and internal linking. Carry out keyword and trending topic research using SEO tools to identify new content opportunities. Continuous Improvement Bring new formats, series and coverage angles to the table rather than waiting to be briefed. When something goes wrong, own it, fix it, and propose the process change that stops it recurring. Use data and performance insights to prioritise coverage and retire what isn’t working. Use and continually develop efficiency with AI tools across research, drafting and workflow automation, within the verification standards set for published content. Who you are Genuinely enthusiastic about esports - a scene you already follow, not a beat you were assigned. A source of ideas: you arrive with pitches and formats, and you are comfortable having them challenged. Fully accountable: you own mistakes without being asked, and you bring a fix and a prevention plan rather than an explanation. Comfortable with ambiguity. A new site has no playbook yet, and you help write it. Realistic about pace: majors and finals land on evenings and weekends, and you plan around that rather than resent it. Requirements Deep, current knowledge of the competitive scene in at least two or three of our core titles, and enough working knowledge of the rest to cover them credibly. Proven writing experience for a digital audience, with published work you can point to. Track record of fast-turnaround news publishing, ideally in esports, gaming or sport. Experience working alongside social or marketing teams, supplying content and assets to deadline. Excellent written English, to native or near-native standard. Confident, independent WordPress use, including embedding video and live streams. Working knowledge of SEO tools (e.g. Ahrefs, SEMrush, Google Search Console). Speed and reliability under time pressure: breaking news to published article without hand-holding. Highly organised and self-motivated, able to run multiple workstreams with minimal supervision. Desirable Basic image editing (thumbnails, featured images) and short-form clip editing. Confidence producing short-form video or clips for use on site and by the social team. Own competitive or high-rank background in one of our titles. Familiarity with esports data sources and APIs (Liquipedia, HLTV, official publisher feeds). What we offer Remote-first working environment with flexible hours around the competitive calendar. Editorial ownership of a brand-new site: your decisions set the voice and the standards. A path to leading a team of contributors as coverage and traffic scale. Yearly performance bonus. Massively fun team building events where we bring everyone together.
