The Opportunity The Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC) is seeking an exceptional Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer to lead the premier organization advancing sustainability across the global pet industry. This is a unique opportunity to shape an entire industry by convening competitors, inspiring collaboration, and accelerating measurable environmental and business impact. The CEO serves as PSC's chief strategist, ambassador, relationship builder, and organizational leader. About PSC PSC brings together brands, retailers, manufacturers, suppliers, service providers, nonprofits, and industry partners to advance sustainable business practices across the global pet industry. Through accreditation, benchmarking, education, collaborative initiatives, and thought leadership, PSC helps members translate sustainability into meaningful business and environmental outcomes. Strategic Context Sustainability is increasingly recognized as a driver of innovation, resilience, and long-term business success. As regulatory expectations, consumer preferences, investor scrutiny, and supply chain risks continue to evolve, PSC is uniquely positioned to help the industry respond. The next CEO will build on PSC's strong reputation by expanding its global influence, deepening member engagement, strengthening organizational sustainability, and positioning the coalition as the trusted catalyst for industry-wide transformation. Key Priorities Position PSC as the leading sustainability authority and trusted convener for the global pet industry. Strengthen member value through community-building, innovative programs, and measurable outcomes. Expand strategic partnerships across industry, NGOs, academia, and government. Lead a high-performing organization with operational excellence and financial discipline. Increase PSC's visibility through executive thought leadership and industry influence. Diversify revenue through membership growth, strategic partnerships, and mission-aligned funding opportunities. Partner closely with the Board while empowering staff to execute with excellence. Leadership Competencies Visionary strategist with strong execution capability. Coalition builder who earns trust across diverse stakeholders. Executive presence with the ability to influence CEOs, boards, and public audiences. Deep sustainability expertise and systems-thinking mindset. Commercial acumen and experience leading organizational transformation. People leader who develops talent, accountability, and culture. Ability to identify emerging opportunities and translate ideas into action. Experience & Qualifications Senior executive leadership experience in sustainability within consumer products, retail, manufacturing, or related sectors. Experience leading organizations through growth and change. Board governance experience. Outstanding communication and public speaking skills. Track record of building strategic partnerships. Pet industry experience preferred. Measures of Success Recognized industry thought leadership. Increased membership, retention, engagement, and organizational growth. Industry collaboration that results in measurable environmental improvements across the pet sector. Demonstrable progress against sustainability outcomes. A financially healthy, scalable organization with a high-performing culture. Why This Role Few nonprofit leadership opportunities offer the chance to influence an entire industry. The CEO will help define how the pet industry collaborates, innovates, and delivers measurable sustainability outcomes while strengthening PSC as an indispensable partner for members around the world. First-Year Focus Build trust with members, partners, staff, and the Board. Evaluate existing programs for relevance, impact, and financial sustainability while clarifying PSC's long-term strategic position. Identify the highest-leverage opportunities where PSC can uniquely convene the industry. Increase visibility through strategic partnerships, speaking engagements, and thought leadership. Develop a three-year strategy focused on measurable industry transformation and organizational resilience.
