Role Title: Architectural Designer

Job Type: Full-Time | Remote | Performance-Based

Johnolans Designs LLC is seeking an experienced architectural designer to join our growing global team and support our expanding residential stock-home-plan division.

This is a hands-on production role for a highly skilled designer who can develop thoughtful residential concepts and translate them into accurate, detailed, construction-ready drawing sets for the U.S. housing market.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop functional and marketable residential floor-plan concepts
• Prepare complete architectural drawings and detailed construction documents
• Produce floor plans, elevations, building sections, roof plans, schedules, and construction details
• Review designs for compliance with the International Residential Code (IRC) and applicable U.S. residential standards
• Coordinate revisions and maintain accuracy throughout the documentation process
• Follow established drafting, documentation, file management, and quality control standards
• Collaborate effectively with architects, designers, visualization specialists, and other remote team members

Required Qualifications

• Proven professional experience in residential architectural design and drafting
• Excellent understanding of global residential design principles, particularly U.S. housing standards
• Strong working knowledge of the International Residential Code (IRC)
• Demonstrated ability to create functional conceptual layouts and comprehensive construction-document sets
• High proficiency in BIM and architectural drafting software
• Strong attention to detail, organization, accuracy, and design quality
• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and communicate effectively within a remote team
• A professional portfolio showing residential design concepts and detailed technical documentation

Preferred Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in residential or building design.
• Bachelor’s degree/higher diploma in architecture.
• Proficiency in Chief Architect software is a strong advantage
• Candidates without Chief Architect experience must demonstrate the ability and willingness to learn and adapt quickly
• Experience designing stock home plans for the U.S. residential market
• Familiarity with wood-frame construction and common U.S. residential building practices
• Experience developing single-family homes, modern farmhouses, cabins, barndominiums, and related residential styles

• Primarily focused on conceptual planning, architectural drafting, and detailed documentation
