About The Role

At Balfour Beatty, we're shaping the infrastructure that powers communities, connects businesses and supports the UK's future. We're looking for a Facilities Assistant to play a key role in ensuring our construction teams have access to clean, safe and well-maintained welfare facilities throughout the life of a major project.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a varied, people-focused role where no two days are the same. You'll be at the heart of the project, helping create a safe and positive working environment for everyone on site.

What you'll be doing

As a Facilities Assistant, you'll support the day-to-day management of site welfare facilities, ensuring they remain compliant, well-maintained and fit for purpose.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Carrying out routine inspections of welfare facilities including toilets, washrooms, changing and drying facilities, canteens, break areas and drinking water stations
  • Ensuring welfare areas are clean, hygienic, fully stocked and maintained to a high standard
  • Coordinating cleaning services, waste removal, maintenance activities and consumable supplies
  • Recording inspections, defects, stock levels and actions taken
  • Reporting issues and escalating any non-compliance to the site management team
  • Supporting compliance with CDM 2015 welfare requirements and company procedures
  • Assisting with site inductions and welfare briefings where required
  • Liaising with cleaners, suppliers, security teams, IT, HSE colleagues and the wider project team
  • Supporting office administration processes and wider project activities as needed
  • Promoting continuous improvement and identifying ways to enhance welfare and office services

Who we're looking for

We're looking for someone who is organised, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.

You'll Ideally Have

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • A practical approach to problem solving
  • Confidence working independently and using your own initiative
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications
  • The ability to build positive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Experience within facilities, office administration or a similar support role

Why work for us

Day in, day out, our teams deliver some of the UK’s most ambitious, exciting and meaningful projects; developing, building and maintaining the vital infrastructure that supports national economies and strengthens communities.

Why join us?

Benefits

As if contributing to and supporting work that makes life better for millions wasn’t rewarding enough, we offer a full range of benefits too. You’ll have the freedom to shape the package that’s right for you and your life. Here are some of our key benefits:

  • Smart working, giving you more flexibility such as staggered start and finish times, with up to 40% remote working, where roles allow.
  • 25 days paid annual leave (pro rata)
  • Family friendly policies which include 28 weeks full pay for maternity/adoption leave and four weeks full pay for paternity/partners leave
  • Pension, share incentive plan, volunteering leave, recognition schemes and much more…

About Us
