Launch Your Software Development Career with FastTrack Our next cohort begins Tuesday, September 15, 2026. Cook Systems is seeking motivated developers for FastTrack, our free, selective 8-week online program designed to prepare qualified participants for software development opportunities with Cook Systems clients. FastTrack is built for developers who already have a technical foundation and are ready to take the next step. This is not an introductory coding program. Participants are expected to enter with programming experience and the ability to build software. Why FastTrack? Breaking into software development can be difficult, even when you already have the skills to build software—especially in a market where developers are increasingly expected to know how to work effectively with AI. FastTrack helps close the gap between having a development foundation and being ready to contribute on a professional technology team. We invest in FastTrack because our goal is to develop qualified developers and prepare them for opportunities with Cook Systems clients. FastTrack operates on a high-trust model. There is no tuition, no income-share agreement, and no repayment agreement. What You’ll Develop FastTrack is an intensive learning and development program that builds from backend development to frontend development and full-stack application development. Technical areas include: Java and object-oriented programming Spring and Spring Boot REST APIs and web services SQL and relational databases JavaScript and TypeScript Angular Git and collaborative development workflows Testing, debugging, and code quality Full-stack application development Agile development practices You’ll apply those skills through hands-on development, collaborative projects, and technical assessments. The program also includes career-readiness content designed to help participants better understand the expectations of professional software teams. Topics may include communication, collaboration, interviewing, and working effectively with clients and teammates. FastTrack also prepares you for a development environment where generative AI is part of the developer toolkit. You’ll learn to use AI to support development work while building the judgment to evaluate its output and use it effectively and responsibly. Who Should Apply? FastTrack is selective and designed for developers with an existing technical foundation. You may be a strong fit if you: Have hands-on programming experience Have built software applications or development projects Have experience with Java or another object-oriented programming language Have a foundation in frontend, backend, or web development Want to expand your capabilities across the full development stack Are comfortable learning independently and working through technical challenges Are comfortable being assessed on your technical skills Work well with others and are receptive to feedback Are serious about pursuing professional software development opportunities Your experience may come from professional work, an internship, college coursework, a boot camp, technical training, or substantial independent projects. FastTrack is not designed for candidates with no prior software development experience. You do not need to already be a full-stack developer—that is the gap FastTrack is designed to help you close. What to Expect Admission to FastTrack is selective, and applicants should expect a screening process that evaluates whether they have the technical foundation needed to succeed in the program. Once admitted, participants should expect to devote approximately 25–30 hours per week for 8 weeks to structured learning, assignments, assessments, projects, collaboration, and career preparation.
