Feasibility Study AI Nutrition Buddy

Job Description This is a remote position. We're looking for project support to work on the technical feasibility and development of an AI-based nutrition coach webapp for teenagers. Rather than counting calories, the app builds on personal eating motives: think taste, budget, sustainability, or social belonging and many more. It gives everyday, non-judgmental recommendations before a meal decision is made, not after. Meal recognition via photo and voice is a core part of the concept, developed and validated together with a Swiss university partner. Your Tasks Contribute to testing the technical feasibility of AI-based meal recognition (image & voice) Support the development and implementation of the webapp (backend, database structure, interfaces) Help connect and fine-tune the LLM through prompt engineering Research and evaluate suitable state-of-the-art models for image and speech recognition Support the development of the nutrition logic and the personalized recommendation system Contribute to testing scientific accuracy and iterating based on results Document code, approach, and project progress Requirements Background in Computer Science or a comparable technical field Experience with app or webapp development Experience with LLMs (prompt engineering, API/interface integration) Interest in nutrition, health, or behavioral design is a plus Structured, independent, and solution-oriented way of working Sensitivity when handling data privacy and delicate topics (e.g. eating disorders) Benefits Start: mid-September Duration: Sprint 1, until mid-January, Sprint 2 possible Location: Remote, with occasional on-site meetings in Zurich/Bern Workload: Part-time (approx. 40–60%) Hourly rate: Competitive
