About this opportunity


The FIDIC Engineer is responsible for supporting the administration of FIDIC construction contracts by monitoring compliance with contract requirements, maintaining accurate records, supporting notices, claims, variations, payment processes and contractual correspondence, and contributing to the successful delivery of projects and business objectives.


Location: Sines, Portugal. This role requires being on-site during the work week. No rotation or fly-in/fly-out arrangement applies


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the delivery of project objectives.
  • Delivering high-quality services and ensuring that deliverables meet Customers’ requirements.
  • Supporting the administration and oversight of FIDIC contracts in accordance with the applicable contract conditions and project procedures.
  • Maintaining contract registers, including notices, claims, variations, instructions, payment applications, approvals, correspondence and key contractual dates.
  • Assisting with the preparation, review and tracking of contractual notices, correspondence, instructions and submissions Supporting the preparation and assessment of claims, including extensions of time, delay and disruption, additional payment and other contractual entitlements.
  • Assisting with change control and variation management, including the review of proposed changes, quotations, approvals, valuations and implementation.
  • Supporting the review of payment applications and the preparation of payment recommendations or certificates, where delegated.
  • Monitoring Contractor submissions, programme updates, deliverables and compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Supporting the contract assurance process on FIDIC projects, including compliance reviews, audits, action tracking and close-out.
  • Supporting contract strategy, administration procedures and approval workflows.
  • Contributing to the identification, monitoring and mitigation of contractual and commercial risks.
  • Attending and contributing to project, progress, contract and claims meetings as required.
  • Preparing meeting records, action trackers and supporting documentation.
  • Liaising with Customers, Contractors, consultants and project team members on contractual and administrative matters.
  • Supporting the administration of completion, taking-over, defects and handover requirements.
  • Monitoring project activities and escalating promptly any issues, delays, omissions or non-compliances that may affect project deliveryc.
  • Advising Directors promptly of any issues that have arisen, or that might arise, on projects; in particular those that might impact on Gleeds professional indemnity (PI) insurance.

Who we’re looking for:

Experience, Knowledge And Key Skills

  • 2 years of experience in contract administration or cost management on construction projects under FIDIC forms of contract.
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Attention to detail.
  • Methodical way of thinking and approach to work.
  • Sound ICT skills, with a high proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • High level of English.


Qualifications

  • Engineering degree, QS degree or similar
